Teslas accelerate hard!

I’ve had some Teslas try to race me and they are fast off the line. How much power would a camaro need to beat them? I’m at 550 but I still don’t have the confidence to get into it with one.

Considering they can beat a factory Hellcat I dont think we can touch them.

Electric motors create 100% of there torque just above 0 RPM so they have massive acceleration.

A guy I know who had a Nissan GTR has bought himself one of the bigger Tesla's and the guys always been a lunatic.
He didn't see me coming about 200 yards behind him, but he put his foot down and just vanished, I could barely see him let alone keep up with it.

I’ll clarify it’s the standard Tesla and not the hellcat eating p1000d so I do think we can beat them with maybe 600-700 hp. That’s my guess

fastest I see is the P100D AWD 2.3 0-60 and 10.5 in the 1/4. the slowest is 13.5 1/4. Need around 700 RWHP and traction to run with the P100D it looks like.

You should be able to past him coming out of turn 1 as he careens off into the tire barrier.

So for the model s, many different variations, 0-60 anywhere from 2.8-5.9 seconds. The p100d is even faster at 2.3-2.6 seconds.

My step son has one of last Model S single motor versions that were made. He wanted to race me, so I told him I'd be glad to, we will start in Dallas, first one to South Padre Island (approx. 550 miles) wins. They are very nice cars and run like a striped assed ape, but the range is extremely limited. And for the $70K his cost him I have no doubts I could make my SS beat that glorified golf cart like a redheaded stepchild.

Electric motors produce instantaneous power.

For instance, I have a 1/10th scale C7 Grand Sport 4-Tec 2.0 VXL (radio controlled car). It rips off 0-60 in ~3.5 seconds. Electric definitely has some advantages.

It isn't so much how much power do you need as much as how much distance do you need. Electric motors produce instant power, but are speed limited typically. So eventually you'll pass that threshold and pass them. To get them off of the line you'll need some crazy power since you'll need whatever their peak power is off the line at minimal rpms.
