Angry 2018 Camaro SS Brake Failure (DOT 3).

Hi ,All

I hope this email can reach the concerned person.

I am driving 2018 camaro SS , serviced at AL HGANDI Auto, DUBAI
VIN:1G1F91R78H0132367

I claimed for brake failure caused a huge accident in my car since 110 DAYS .
I was driving at speed of 100MPH then brake suddenly went completely lose, then gripped after few seconds!

Until today i didn't get any kind of feedback from GM call center or GM office in Dubai technically explaining this failure, (Status : PENDING..)

They take the data event recorder or SDM but no report was handed to me!

The link is the Accident video showing brake failure.

Now am fixing my car by my own and am still not sure why that happened.

Wow that was a fly by. I am happy that you are ok. Shouldn’t you use DOT4 at the track.

I didnt click on the link, but if this failure was at a track the track setup guide states you are to replace the DOT3 with DOT4 before the event.

You're very lucky you didn't hurt yourself or someone else... This is why you are told in the manual to use DOT 4 for track use. DOT 3 will boil with the excess heat from track use, that releases gasses into the brake lines which causes them to fail.

Not sure what you expect from GM. There is no mechanical failure here, it is user error. Be glad all you are out is the repair bill and not more.

That indicates to me that you were already experiencing some pretty bad brake fade, if it was me I would have pulled the car back into the pits at that point because something clearly wasn't right. But instead you stayed out and the next lap was when you had the failure going into T1, just be glad they had the chicane on the back straight or you could have had the failure back there going much faster than you were into T1 and it could/would have been much worse. Just be glad you are okay and move on.

One more thing. Have you removed the front brake splash shields and installed the larger air deflectors for added cooling on the track as GM requires for track warranty. They came in the boot with all SS's in the USA.
