Clutch wouldn't come up, it got stuck!

I was driving back from L.A. last night. As soon as I went up the mountain we hit a little traffic. With that said I was stopped and when I pushed the clutch in to put it in gear, the clutch got stuck and would not come back up. I noticed that my transmission temperature was a little over 250 when this happened. My question is: is this normal? It had never happened to me and it freaked me out. Should I take it to the dealer and have it checked it out?

not normal at all, and dangerous. i have seen this on here before. warranty will look at, probably not fix as they dont do anything until it happens to them.

It's been awhile, but I read on here that many times when it sticks there is a piece down near the clutch pedal that was the problem.

More than likely there is air in the hydralic system. You can cycle it by pumping the clutch pedal about 20 times. This is unfortunately a common issue. Do a search and you will find multiple threads on this

Check your clutch fluid under the hood ... bet it needs to be replaced.

elpatofeo, I would suggest (for the sake of peace of mind) that you have your dealer check the vehicle over and see if you duplicate what happened. If you can and you can show it to the dealer then you should be all set on getting this issue resolved. I hope this is the only time you have to worry about this.

Was it stuck to the floor? Were you able to pull it back up with your foot? Did it come back up on its own after the trans temp cooled down?

That's usually a hydraulic issue. Check your fluid. And performance mods?

I've had that same issue, not while driving though thank goodness. It usually happens to me when it's been pretty cool outside overnight and I start the car up in the morning. Apparently my clutch master cylinder was replaced do deal with the problem because I got on to my dealer, but as my clutch is now messed up yet again (and sqeaking this time) I've gone to a different dealer. It seems that a fluid change/system bleed will temporarily solve the problem, but it always comes back for me. Monday will be the 4th time I've taken it to the dealer for related issues, and in Texas that means I might qualify for the lemon law. I would so hate to trade my car in, but I refuse to pay a 6 year note on a car that can't be fixed correctly.

Homestar and Luckymex, have either of you spoken to our Customer Assistance team at this time? They can help working with your dealer to get this resolved for you. If you need help contacting them let me know.

I have been to Classic Chevrolet three times over the past year. Once because the clutch would stick to floor after sitting in the cold weather, the other two because the master cylinder almost constantly leaks fluid from the reservoir cap. This time I went to Bankston because it's closer to my house and frankly, Classic service dept sucks. They tore up more than they fixed. I'm hoping they can get to the bottom of the problem, and if not I certainly will call GM Customer Care. I want to give these guys a chance to fix it though, but I will start b******* if stuff doesn't start happening, bet on it!

On a side note, good luck with your adventures Luckymex_dallas. Believe me I know how you feel!
