Mileage keeps getting better

Phoenix to Vegas.....31.6 mpg. Good for flat land, but very good for the constant hills between Phx and Vegas.

Holy smokes...thats pretty good. I went from 13.3 the first 500 miles to 18.2 @ 2500 miles. I would die to see 30+ mpg

Sure is. Just really surprised me with that kind of mileage on the endless hills going to Vegas. Some of them BIG and miles long climbs.

?

I have hills here. Not miles and miles but very common to have an appreciable elevation change on the highway.

I can get good mileage when I want. I had 27 on a 500 mile trip that had tolls and some traffic. Usually I was doing 60-65 mph.

But 30 mpg in an SS, Gonz?

Sorry guys but, I don't believe it. You must be resetting your mpg frequently... very frequently. I can fuel up at the top of a hill, reset my mpgs, gently drive down the hill, and probably get 45 out of her. Does that qualify me to claim 45 mpgs? No. No way a SS gets 30+ mpgs... unless you're coasting.

Might be possible if you reset at freeway speed with cruise control on and do not get off the freeway and drive at any city speeds.

But IMO 30 plus is somewhat unlikely in that the numbers would not hold up for very long.

With a reset in Boise Idaho after getting gas I saw 29 for the first third of a drive to Baker Oregon... slowly dropped over time to around 28 while on a freeway with several considerable grades and getting off at Baker. FWY speeds are 80 MPH in Idaho and about 73 in Oregon.

Getting ready for a trip from Boise to Dallas, will be interesting to watch those numbers.

I have a v6, 2013 1lt RS with under 1300 miles, if I go 67 mph and set it to cruise and then reset the fuel average it will say I'm 28mpg at the end of the trip not touching the peddle. I don't see how you're 31

Phoenix through Wickenburg, stop at McDonald's, to Wikiup, Kingman, stop to eat, on to Vegas. Hills or up hill most of the way. Use cruise on "flat" parts, no cruise on hills. Better control of throttle on the hilly areas, and better mpg. 65 to 75 most of the way. LS, not SS. Just under 9 gallons for the trip.

I just did 160 miles this morning at 77 mph on cc and only got 22.6 all highway. Maybe if i did 65 i would see 26 or 27 im guessing.

Could be the cold air intake helping out. Before the intake, got around 28 to 29 highway, Phoenix to LA. Intake has improved mpg for both city and highway.

Mine has 35,000 miles. Mpg slowly getting better. Cruise seems to not always give best mpg. Depends on terrain. Hills, manual control seems better.
