Mail Slot means so much to me

I don’t know why but when I see it my heart skips a beat. Sounds crazy and can’t put my finger on it but I really like the look of it!
I know some like the clean (no mail slot) look of the hood and can appreciate that too. Everyone’s taste is different but To me this was a great aesthetic that caught my eye. Anyone one else passionate about the mail slot?

I did like it and do miss it a bit, since the ZL1 fascia does not have it...

I do dig the mail slot in the earlier gens! It would make a good functional air vent.

don't know why they didn`t make it functional. a little extra air blowing in there couldn`t hurt
has anyone made theirs functional without putting the Varoom air box in there? not sure if that's the brand but someone make a cold air box coming in that way.

While I don’t quite share your enthusiasm and what seems to be a borderline unhealthy fetish, yes, I do like the mail slot on my car very much.

You bought a 6cyl instead of an 8cyl based solely on the looks of the 19 inch fake air scoop? That is batšhįt crazy.

The Vararam uses air from in front of the radiator.

The mailslot would be a nice place to mount the Knight Rider sensor. LOL otherwise its useless.

I honestly thought that it was a functional inlet when I first saw it. Was a little disappointed but, no problem, gave me a reason to put in a hood scoop.

But if you bought a black car it would have blended right in and you could have gotten a V8, right?

Among the many things that swayed me towards buying the 2013 versus the 2014 at the time was the front end, especially the 'mail slot'. IMO it gives it a more aggressive muscle car look.

I'm certain GM had their reasons for not making it functional, but it should have been. Scoops and such, that serve no purpose other than aesthetics, are a waste.

I know there is/was a kit that you could buy to make the mail slot functional. You obviously had to cut the plastic out of there and a metal piece sat over your radiator and diverted air into your engine bay. I'm not certain if it is still being made.
