No, just turn your wheels enough to make room and you can get in there to install. Took me about 15 minutes to do both sides. I used the lower factory screw and 3M VHB tape.

There are two ways to do it, with the 3M tape, or with the provided screws (just like he said, you use the lower factory screws and then two more for the middle and top of the guard). I had my car in for a tire change and had them do it while the wheels were off and had them use the screws. I'm sure either way is fine.

I've used it once. So far only on my hood and bumper. Worked great except that when rubbing the activator solution it caused some fine scratching in the paint. I'm sure this is mostly because our paint is as hard as butter. Did you guys experience any scratching?

A little disappointing considering I already did a paint correction polish detail a few months ago and now have to polish out the scratches. But overall I like the product.

Still haven't tried it on the lower quarters, but will try it soon.

Hmmmm, I haven't used Dr ColorChip on my Z/28. I used it quite a bit on my ZR1 and never had any issues with scratching (even micro fine scratching the clear coat).

How much 3m vhb tape did you use on each? Trying to get a guesstimate to order

I ordered one roll of 3/4" and ran a strip completely down the side of the inner fender well where the rock guard attaches. May be over kill but I wanted to be sure they don't come off. I also put one small piece at the very bottom inside (to the inside of the bottom screw) so the tire didn't rub if it pulled away a little.

I'll post pictures of the same areas in my car. tomorrow after I get home.Last March as I got the car, we used Xpel Ultimate on all areas where a pebble could hit...
>the entire front clip
>the sides halfway down the doors
>the side effects & the splitter
>the mirrors
>and the windshild posts plus an 8" strip coming back on the top behind the top leading edge of the windshield.

The results after a year....zero damage to the paint anywhere, especially behind the tires; and thats w/o adding the ZL1Addons larger plastic deflectors.

I had 3M film on my old white 2011 2SSRS which was totaled. The 3M film I had on that car seemed to yellow a little with age (4 years).

The Xpel Ultimate on both my 2009 Z06 (applied in 2012) and my '15 Z/28 (applied last March) does not show yellowing. After a year of service-> no dings or damages from the tires or other cars throwing stuff on the car. I did have the entire lower half of the body covered (from the middle of the door going down)..any area where it looked like a pebble could hit.

Here are pics before I applied the paint and after the 2nd coat. I think this is about as good as it will get. I also applied some to some small gouges in the splitter and it worked well.

I did it in the gill area of a carbon flash metallic and it worked great. Perfect color match.
