TR-6060

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/02/07/chicago-auto-show-gm-rwd-fans-can-rejoice-for-the-pontiac-g8-h/

So I was goofing around the Web, when I came across the gear ratios for the TR-6060 found in the New Vette, and the soon to come G8...

So I plugged them into my Forza racing simulator Game (for kicks), and found some real interesting stuff.

First off, the TR-6060 is VERY similar in gearing to the Z51 gearing in the '07 Vettes. The first four gears are placed reasonably apart (on an LS2 vette), if a bit widely spaced...but then you get to the last 2 OD gears...when you go from a 6500 rpm red-line in 4th to 5th, your rpms drop right smack into the middle of the power band. Somewhere around 5800 - 6000, very nice. It's nuts, though, because - although this is just a game - it becomes pinfully obvious that even with the lower FDR, 6th gear becomes strictly an economy gear - from a 6500 redline in 5th you drop to almost 3800-4000 rpms. Not cool while racing at 180 mph...

again this IS just a game's simulation, but untill someone gets to tryout the
Nurburgring, or some Massive Tarmac (to get up that fast), I think this is as close as I'll ever get.

Here are the Ratio's of the T-56 vs. the TR-6060 and the Z51 tranny (in that order):

____T-56__TR-6060__Z51____

1 -- 2.66.......3.01......2.97
2 -- 1.78.......2.07......2.07
3 -- 1.30.......1.43......1.43
4 -- 1.00.......1.00......1.00
5 -- 0.74.......0.84......0.71
6 -- 0.50.......0.57......0.57

FDR..3.42.......3.27......3.42

I thought I'd share, whether anybody takes a games word for it, or not (I don't).

Isn't Forza supposed to be that ultra realistic racing simulator? Or am I thinking of something else? I know that there is one that came out a couple years ago that is basically the Flight Sim for racing.

Game or not, I kinda figured that something like that might happen, look at the step between 4th and 5th (.16), and then 5th and 6th (.27)....

Thanks, .
Respond exactly is right, except on grass. Get's real sticky in some random patches...but,

Still, I kinda like this TR-6060. If your going Highway cruising, it seems to be designed to skip 5th. just my 0.02.

If anybody ever gets to drive the '08 Vette, be sure to let us know what it's like, okay?

I have to ask - and I'm asking honestly - does it bother anybody that the T-56, and TR-6060 aren't GM products?

GT dosent do it for me....hell the original forza was a much better simulator than GT4. GT is severly lackin in every aspect to even be considered a true simulator....just my 2 cents

No, GM, Ford, and Chrysler all proved a long time ago they cant build a transmission worth a damn.

Ahh I wouldn't go that far. As far as automatics, the General builds some of the best, strongest and most reliable ones out there. They have for years. Very popular in drag and off road racing. Chrysler's TorqueFlite is the same way. If it's strong enough for monster trucks, it's strong enough for a half tonner. Not as much experience with Ford, but those two are some of the most respected slushboxes around.

Right! GM still makes Automatics of their own. And especially with this 6L80, it's one of the best there is! I was just surprised when heard that the Tremecs weren't made or designed by GM...
