AC belt help!!

I have been trying for the last hour trying to get the ac belt onto the crankshaft with this tool but there is a plate preventing it moving any further is there any other way to get it on?

I'll be doing the same thing this weekend. So let's figure this out together. Are you putting the tool on the engine side of the belt? Perhaps try the radiator side.

Is this how you've been trying?

Maybe you could put the belt tool on the radiator side, and also put a 8"-12" tool such as a monkey wrench or prybar across the harmonic balancer. That way once you get the AC belt on the front of the balancer, you can continue to rotate the balncer while using the tool to slowly move the belt to the rear of the balancer.

Belt

Finally got it on, the tool had to be placed at the 1 o'clock position on the driver side in the back away from the radiator side

I tried that with mine and still couldn’t. Finally got it on with a pry bar. It was a nightmare for like 2 hours and I stretched it a bit by putting it on and after 5k miles it’s shredding slightly already. Next time a shop will do it when I get the cam changed lol.

Nice! I'm gonna do the same thing this weekend. Did you need to put a screw in the belt tool to keep it in place?

belt

No i just slide it under the belt until snug held in place then turned clockwise and guided the bottom side belt at an angle until it slide in place on the balancer grooves.
