Boostane or VP octanium

Has anyone tried this in a direct injected engine

I'm running 93 Octane with a can of Octanium unleaded, and have been running this combo for about a month. First fill up was a full tank of 93 with 2 cans of Octanium, after that half tank with one can.

per there web site i should be at 100 Octane or better

Results I've seen,
No bog between 1st and 2nd gear
better throttle response

Car seems to be running better

You'd be better off with 75% 93, and 25% E85. I run mine 75 RUG/25 E85, my Tuned
Mustang loves it! Camaro runs good on it too. I have even run my LLT motor on
just E85. No problems. Not for any performance reasons, just to see...

The car can't advance enough to take advantage of 100+ octane, the phasers can
only move so far. GM's VVT allows advancing the cam 7 degrees and retarding it 45
degrees for a total of 52 degrees of latitude. Piston-to-valve clearance can become
an issue when you're moving the cam that far from the installed centerline. So, if
you think high octane will advance the timing more, that is incorrect, you got 7
degrees. If you went higher, the factory piston(s) would hit the valves. You would
need something like Mahle pistons, with bigger -4cc valve reliefs.

Also, once you exceed 380 pounds of open spring pressure, the VVT system starts
losing control of the cam phasing at engine speeds above 5,000 rpm. The only thing
preventing the cam from wobbling erratically within its 52-degree range of travel is
hydraulic pressure. Moreover, the fact that GM's VVT system relies on hydraulic
pressure to overcome the force of the valves-prings means there's a practical limit to
how much spring pressure it can handle.

By using a hydraulic roller cam and beehive valvesprings, you should still able to get
600 hp out of VVT-equipped L99 crate engine.

People continue to waste money on octane boosters, when they won't do any good.
If you are boosted, then yes, it only helps prevent detonation. Octane above 95 in
a naturally aspirated engine is a waste of money.

I used octanium before , and I agree was a waste of money . Where I live , we only have 90oct , so for my truck that’s fbo I got tired of getting a tune that isn’t up to par with everyone else as my ecu was pulling timing , and methanol injection solved that for me .

I just run 93 in mine. I run a can of VP Racing octane booster in my 67 and it helps with detonation in it but the Camaro, eh. Like the Dude said, E85 is best bang for your buck if you want raw performance. Just grab the flex fuel kit and get it tuned.

I do not use a kit, I just run 25% of it in the car. I ran 80 some miles, and only used
almost 3 gallons of fuel, with the mix. This way, I can use 87 octane, and make up
the difference with 1/4 tank of E85. This time a year, it's going to be the real deal,
more than 58% ethanol, so about 102+ octane. Winter is the less mix, but it still
ran good. For some reason mine likes it at about 89 octane overall. I get the
smoothest acceleration with it. I tried 91, and 93, I still got hesitant pulls, but with
89, it runs good. So, I can keep it up there with 87 Octane + the E85 mixture.

There is no E85 kit for the LLT motor anyway... Still, I ran it on full E85, and it
ran.
