Just read in Autoweek Mag that L-99 Callaway Camaro with Magnacharger is making 552HP. The ringer is that is flywheel HP. A realistic rwhp number on a Maggie L-99 is not 500rwhp as touted in this thread. No NOX, no dyno tricks, no meth, 3.6 pulley, and no LS-3 conversion. Ask around with reliable tuners. I am only the messinger and I truly want all Camaro owners to have their dream car. But, please have realistic, obtainable, safe expectations from 6 to 7 pounds of Maggie boost on a L-99 with a safe tune. If you can get to 435 rwhp with just a LS-3 conversion then take another look. Obviously more with maggie but NOT much over 500 rwhp if at all.

Texas Speed heads $1179. Thunder Racing DOD delete kit $305. Head gaskets $50. Mast or Comp phaser restrictors $55. Mast ( or better if its availible by then) cam $500. As far as I know thats all the parts that are needed for a heads and cam swap. Parts cost will be around $2100. Im not sure of the labor rate but those parts and labor I bet would only be half of what a supercharger parts and install would be. I figure with my bolt ons it should be about 425rwhp. While thats not close to the power of FI, I dont think it will be close in price either.
On stock heads you should be able to hit 425whp with VVT and the right cam. The MAST and Comp off the shelf cams are okay but not high in lift all of them are around .560 as PTV clearance is the real sticky spot with VVT on these engines. So far the best VVT cams IMO are coming from Engine Power Systems using their proprietary EPS lobes which are very similar to LSL lobes which work very very well and they offer .600 lift as well. EPS lobes are just about as hot as an XER lobe but easier on the valvetrain which is nice for street cars. Although the behaviour of the engine in terms of idle quality and whether or not it has more low end power vs high RPM power is more determined by duration than lift the L92 heads ( L99 same ) seem to work very VERY well with more lift than LS1's did and a bigger split on lobe center.

Now regarding ported heads? With ported heads and ported intake manifold 450+ should be a breeze even through an auto.

I went to thier website and couldnt find the cams that you were speaking of. They did have some VVT cams but all of them looked like off the shelf comp units and they had no where near .600 lift. How do you get that much lift with VVT anyway and not worry about PTV?

Well, we all expect a video and dyno charts from you this weekend. Saturday afternoon will suffice. Now get away from your computer and get back to work in the garage.

The Whipple thread here would say something different, as would the Edelbrock one. They both are making over 500rwhp. You are right not much over that mark, but still over. The money to make a cammed L99 hit those numbers is not much cheaper than going the blower route. You would have to do heads, the cam, and all the bolt-ons as well to get close to those numbers. Mast was the way I was looking to go with their Stage 3 setup to achieve the numbers I wanted. With all the bolt-ons and their Stage 3 package you could achieve the same numbers to the blower setups, but around the same cost. In the end it which would the owner prefer.

idk im guessing it's aroun 420hp at the wheel. I have yet to dyno my car...

Anyway it's a lot smoother than factory. The guy that did the tuning is insanely smart and good at tuning. He spent little over a week tuning my car. 2/3/4 all shift at 6200 it screams.

Another board member over at tech just posted his dyno graph running a cam VERY similar to mine ( no VVT mind you but same lobes, same lift, touch more duration ) and he just hit 462/420 through a manual trans. His mods are practically identical too and hes only on 6.0L displacement as well. Getting me damn excited
