Arrow SPIED: A new model or 2019 Camaro refresh?

Autoblog:

How do you ensure that no one can see what you have planned for a mid-cycle refresh? Slap a monster false nose on your prototype! That seems to be the strategy Chevrolet decided on for the 2019 Camaro. One of our spy photographers caught a whole troupe of the new Camaros testing in Colorado, and all of them have the extra-long nose with myriad holes for air and lights.

While it would be tempting to think Chevy is working on a unique, extra-aerodynamic limited-edition Camaro, we're certain this schnoz is just a red herring. Underneath is likely a lightly updated fascia that adheres to the current model's retro appearance. That refresh probably extends to the hood and fenders, which are also heavily covered. Unfortunately because of the heavy camouflage, it's impossible to identify any definite changes.

At the tail, no significant alterations appear to have been made, which may also be why Chevy only applied a camouflage wrap to it. It does seem that the areas just below the taillights have had the current car's extra character lines removed for a smoother, simpler look. The taillights themselves have almost certainly been updated as well, with different illumination patterns.

We're expecting these changes to appear on the 2019 Camaro, which will probably be revealed in early- to mid-2018. Don't expect many major mechanical changes except a possible horsepower bump across the board, and perhaps the introduction of the 10-speed automatic found in the ZL1.

That might have something to do with, might have pushed them a little sooner but car makers in general are doing refreshes quicker and quicker. Seems like 3 years now is the norm before a refresh.

yea, i see more cars that are twice or more costly than my car around here in southern california than 6th gens. Though, with prices dropping and used 6th gens starting to hit the market from rental agencies, i'm starting to see more of them. Not many but i may see one a week or so now.

I hope they dont do any major changes. It's hard enough to get aftermarket stuff now, considering the popularity of the car is making it really hard for companies to justify the expense. Having only a couple years where a part is compatible is not going to help.

I believe 2019 was always planned for the refresh. That was always the year mentioned. With 2021/2022 for the 7th gen. Don't think sales have to do with it.

Look I feel unique when I'm riding around in a SixGen but at the same time you gotta feel bad for the Dealers because I think people are just bigger fans of the Ford Mustang in Cali. Even online it says like the Mustangs are in the top ten as most popular car to drive in CA.

That's like the GTA I've seen a handful of them since they've launched the dealers do have them sitting on the Lots though but they do sit for a long time

Probably a refresh just like they did for 5th gen. It makes sense. I mean if I were to go buy a new Camaro next year, I wouldn't want it looking EXACTLY like someone who got it 3 years ago

Looks like the hood line is getting lowered to improve visibility. The 2018 Mustang has that change. 10 speed auto seems likely, more horsepower seems unlikely as the rating on the LT1 hasn't changed since it came out.
