TPMS
On the way home this morning from work my TPMS light came on The message was TPMS malfunction. I had new tires put on 3 months ago and have put over a thousand miles on them with no issues. When I looked at the information center both fronts were out and then the right rear went out. Only the left rear is still showing pressure. I looked at the owners manual and it’s no help to me. I have a 2013 1SS with 102,000 miles on it. Has anybody else have this trouble? I was thinking about going to a dealer after getting a little sleep. If anybody got a clue please let me know Thanks in advance I had OEM TPMS sensors put in with the new tires

Did they relearn them after install that you know of? Mine occasionally done that after my new tires were installed and rebuild kit on the TPMS. I had to have them relearn them from what they told me. No issues since though.

This is one thing I am easily able to help you out on. Unless 3 of your sensors died it's probably because the shop didn't relearn it. Every GM vehicle whenever you are mounting new tires or doing a rotation you have to do a full relearn starting from the inside of the vehicle on the DIC.
There are tools on amazon that should be able to help you do this for fairly cheap. It's an easy process. You just go to the part in the DIC where it shows the tire pressure and then you hold the set/clr button. The car will ask you if you want to relearn you go to yes and hit the set button once. The car will start beeping. Then you go in this order- LF, RF, RR, LR. After each sensor actually reads you will hear the horn beep and then you can proceed to the next sensor. That should do the job. If not it might be a dead sensor or ones with low battery but the amazon scan tool has a light that can tell you that. Actually found the link for you: https://www.amazon.com/VXDAS-EL-5044...arn+tool&psc=1 Edit: It's always a good practice to set the pressures to where you want them at before doing this relearn process. Hope this helps! |

It can be the receiver unit located next to the center rear mirror. My friends car got the same symptoms like yours and after replacing the unit everything was fine. No need to reprogram that unit and it was also cheap and easy to change.

Thanks for the help. They did relearn the system. After 3 months and a thousand miles I thought it was kinda strange that this happened

A couple years ago while on my way to race Silverstate after cruising triple digits for a while mine came on. I have 2 sets of tires/rims, i had purchased aftermarket ones from Amazon....DONT!!!! buy aftermarket. So i was on my way to run the 150MPH class, had this happened i certainly would of died, and here is the problem. Apparently the aftermarket are rubber valve stems where as our OEM are metal. I, out of caution went to the tire guy there in ELY and had them changed before my race, 3 of the 4 valves were shot and would certainly of failed at the speeds i was running.

Oh and the kicker (stupid ass me) i forgot we have that little compressor in the trunk. I called AAA, i ended up getting air from some guy who stopped to get gas(the gas station didn't have air...sigh)and called AAA back and went on our way, 30 miles later the light came on again. we pulled over and i said hey wait a minute we have a compressor, and thats how we got to ELY

Like others here, mine did the same after getting a flat fixed. but was only a few days later..
you have any other issues? old batteries are favorite places to start looking for gremlins on our cars. |

Isn’t it great we have TPMS because ford sucks?
I check my tires. With a high quality dial gauge. It isn’t hard. |
