I Received A Different Letter From GM

No letter today either....I would be happy to have it before Feb. though....

If I haven't received that letter by 2/16, the posse may be a reality!!!

I know I read on here that most if not all would be out this week (5 - 9 Jan 09) I think and we should see it in a few weeks...at least that was my impression.

For anyone that doesn't have (or haven't seen) the first letter, there is some irony to RodRunner's comment.

From the 1st letter:

"Camaro is a 21st century sports car. But bold words and superlatives can't truly capture the soul of the Camaro. And you know this as well..."

I haven't received my second letter and frankly didn't even know there was one until this morning. I've been out of the loop for a few weeks due to the holidays and a death in the family. I personally don't care when I get my letter or if they delay production a mere 30 days, and I never expected to get my Black, manual 2SS/RS until late spring or early summer anyway. All I care about is the assurance that I am going to be getting a world-class car with the performance to back up the history and name that we all know and love: Camaro.

For those that think that driving to the Eastern Time Zone and camping out in front of a dealership to be the first one to order a Camaro means that you'll get the lowest VIN # and the first one out of the plant, you may be sorely disappointed. I'm no GM insider and I have no real insight into the industry, but it is my understanding that they will be producing similarly configured cars in groups, beginning with the most popular (see "Recommended Color Combinations" on the 2010 Camaro Initial Ordering Workbook). Whether they decide to build by actual demand or projected demand, those that ordered a more unique setup or color may not see theirs for a little while.

Now, I could be completely wrong. If I am, someone please correct me. GM may have set up their plants to be able to produce all possible Camaro configurations simultaneously. But if they didn't, the plant will require some minor re-tooling before producing the next configuration.

I don't know if you're wrong or not but I do know that Oshawa workers on this and other boards have said quite decidedly that with today's technology they could change exterior colors on every car coming down the line and not miss a beat. They could paint a rainbow colored car if they wish. What I'm getting at is with a flex line and painting abilities like that, they should be able to put out whatever they want, in whatever order they want.
