I do about 40 to 50 cruise-ins and car shows per season so my car sits out in the sun with the top down quite a bit. 303 Aerospace Protectant is the best stuff I've found to protect the leather and plastic from the sun and rain. Just apply and wipe. No greasy after shine.
In the 5 years I've owned 5th gen convertibles, I've be caught in down pours maybe 4 or 5 times. I just get out the Master Blaster when I get home and blow all the water out. The interior holds up surprising well to the elements. Including water.

A hat, hand towel, sunglasses and suntan lotion are must-haves when driving a convertible!

When I lived in Alabama, I came to realize that "10%" meant it will rain for at least 10 minutes at some point today. After having my first ragtop thoroughly drenched because of this (1992 Mazda Miata, sunburst yellow), I never left the top down unless I could see the car or was only going to be gone for a few minutes.
