Start with a 1LE/1SS $37K. LS7 $7K. 6 pot Brembos $1.5K. Aero $1.5K. Other $1.5K. $48,500 Total before options. Remember these are upgrades to existing items.

Exactly. I'd like a Z/28 when they come out....but it's getting too high IMO at over 40k.

It's the way of performance. It's across the board with any model or manufacturer. It's not the 90's anymore. Within advancement of technology comes price. Camaro's 1LE and ZL1, factory produced, stock..are blowing away competitor's that are priced upwards to a factor of two. The Z28 if produced soon will fall inbetween the 1LE and ZL1. And, no one can say the ZL1 or 1LE will be carried forward into the model line change either. Maybe for the Gen6, it's the Z28 and SS...who know's, deja vu all over again....

"We definitely see the Z28 at the very least breaking even with the GT500 and possibly taking over the top-dog role in the American musclecar realm. We just hope that Chevy doesn’t turn the upcoming Z28 into just a dedicatory car with special badges and no power upgrades."

No one could dethrone Mustang when it comes to muscle cars. Chevrolet’s crown jewel Camaro still has not the guts to compete against it.

GM has said the ZL1 is the top Camaro so any Z/28 will have less HP than the ZL1.

The Camaro should be set up similar to the Vette.

Base to SS
GS to 1LE
Z06 to Z/28
ZR1 to ZL1.

I don't like BMWs so I wouldn't get one. I'm just looking forward to get my Chevelle back on the road.

Remembering the LS7 Camaro Concept...

http://www.netcarshow.com/chevrolet/2008-camaro_ls7_concept/

The LS7 crate engine (part number 17802397) uses a high-performance replacement camshaft from GM Performance Parts (part number 12480033) to help it produce approximately 550 horsepower. Complementing upgrades include GM Performance Parts-developed headers and air intake system that will be offered at the Camaro's launch in early 2009. The LS7 also is modified with a wet-sump oiling system; the production engine features a dry-sump system that requires an external oil tank.

Backing the LS7 engine is a production Tremec 6060 six-speed manual with a GM Performance Parts Hurst shifter. Additional drivetrain details include:
  • Brembo four-wheel disc brake package
  • Lowered ride height
  • Custom 20-inch wheels
  • Driveshaft safety loop
  • GM Performance Parts exhaust system

...yeah, and Andy Reid still say's his QB is Mike Vick for now....what they say isn't necessarily what they mean, or are thinking moving forward. We are only told what they want us to know, and that goes for anything. I project the Z/28 to top the ZL1 in it's debut at the end of the Gen 5 show, HP and overall performance wise.

That can only happen currently with the LS9 and if a supercharged Z/28 was acceptable, there would not be a ZL1 Camaro at this time.

The LS9 is 635 HP, short of the target mark. GM does not upgrade certified engines. There is no power spike to be expected from the current production line LS engine family as per the engine development doctrine that has evolved for some time now. No silver bullet LS family motor will emerge. The next gen DI 8 cylinder motor will be the game changer in our camp. Whether it be naturally aspirated, turbo charged, or super charged that is for the engineer's to decide upon. The end result of the power output will be the deciding factor which configuration is best suited to sit in the engine bay of the Camaro Z/28. Sanctioned race rules or public demand may not be part of the equation, perhaps another niche production offering may emege that is groundbreaking and one to behold.
