In short yes and no. Yes as you remove the twist and flex of the suspension. No because you reduce wheel hop.

Well reducing wheel hop reduces the stress on the gears.

There is a certain amount of flex in anything, but the Caps are a bigger issue.

We now install Billet Main Caps on every Gear install or we won't warranty it.

And we have modified our Set up procedures which goes against what Richmond recommends to prevent premature failure.

Ted, my car is putting out 601rwhp / 548rwt and I have a completely stock drive train except the 4.10 gears. After reading these gear failure reports I'm scared to do much spirited driving with my car. What drive train upgrades would you recommend? I was thinking I could just get away with a stronger clutch, but now I'm wondering if I should also be considering the Hendrix 9" IRS. I like the Hendrix solution but the price is borderline absurd.

BTW, I ordered your fuel system upgrade for my E-Force just yesterday and you guys shipped it already! Thanks a bunch!

If the Ring and Pinion are set up properly and you have billet caps it should not be an issue.

We are putting over 750 RWHP through our differentials we build.

Mine has the stock caps and I believe the gears are setup properly (they're quiet and have held up so far, but I've not taken it to the drag strip).

Do you recommend that I have the caps installed? If so, where do I get them and while they're being installed how can the gears be checked for proper installation?

Yes, I have them in stock, Pinion depth gauge, dial indicator, and Pattern read.

I just went to your website and all I saw was a "Posi Mod" kit, does that include the caps?

Steve

There was a bunch of talk about the positrac having issues and someone had a fix or mod for about 200 bucks, but I can find the thread. I plan to go with the 370's soon and want to be sure I address all the other issues in the rear end at the same time.

Ted, what exactly does this statement mean on your web page as a note for the 2010 Camaro SS JRE Billet Caps: "Final Machining for bore diameter required."

Does that mean I can not just order the parts and install?

Would I need to take the diff. apart make some measurements and then order a custom part?

Please clarify. Thanks.

The Caps come about .020 long because there is NO WAY to know what the bore diameter will be until the caps get bolted on your housing and measured.

For example, you bolt the caps on and they come up 3.070 you have to machine the caps -0.010

Final bore Diameter needs to be 3.060.

They will come with instructions.

Ted.
