you need to drive it a little bit for the chassis to settle. A mile or two is all it needs. Get an alignment before you start putting a lot of miles on it, or your tires will wear uneven, rather quickly. It will be stiffer (which is good). I know you will love the difference.. It will feel like a different car. Wait till you feel the difference on the autocross course. Just be careful with speed bumps and driveway ramps. Did you do sway bars and end links yet? Those coupled with the springs will make the suspension feel nice and tight. My car is dropped about the same as yours (around 1" for me - your drop should be 1.4 i believe). I have 19" street tires which drop the car another 1.2" on top of the drop from the springs. |

Yea I did the 1.4 drop. That's what apex said would be best for my car. No I haven't changed the sways and end links. BUT it's def on the todo list. The winter was kind to me this year but the funds are staring to run short if you know what I mean (your a hole new level). Can't wait to autocross this. Maybe sways mid summer depending on extra work.

The only thing I did this winter I did today:
Added Solo-Performance axle back J-Pipe exhaust to my Auto L99 SS. Great sound and no droan without tuning out my AFM. Saves weight, not too loud, cleans up the rear end looks (no suitcase mufflers) and again the new sound is awsome.

Eibach sway bars have been added. RX Oil catch can has been added I am not changing bulbs. Additional items not on the original list (Modding can be so addicting): I have the Stillen Front Splitter to install yet. Waiting for warmer weather. I have added a ROTO-FAB radiator cover. Installed some cosmetic anodized aluminum billet pieces under my hood. Installed a couple other aluminum cover pieces inside the engine bay. Completed some painting projects under the hood. Added more LED lights to the trunk. Added the Trifecta Trans Tune and will be doing some data logging soon. (April 2nd, return trip to Lapeer Dragway)

I Need Sway Bars!!!!!lol lol. The car is more responsive def. I live in a hilly back road tipe town. So I really get to try the springs out. Handling % is up but now I can see why I need sway bars. (and end links)Don't get me wrong the car handles just fine but I can see what the sways can do now.

Swaybars on these cars make a BIG difference in feel.
I carpeted the rear seat area after I built a raised floor out of 1/4" mdf and a 2X4. Here's a picture of it, and the driver's seat installed. |

I can't wait to see your car in person. Is it street legal?

Yes, it is still street legal. It wouldn't pass Mass state inspection as the airbags are removed, and required in Mass, but it will pass in NH as long as the ABS brake system works. That is about the only computer besides the ECU and fuel management that are still operational.
I don't have headers so I can pass sound readings at the events, and all the emissions stuff is still in place, so I pass the sniff test no problem. I need to locate my horn wire and add a button so the horn works, and then I will pass NH state Inspection. I checked with my local Chevy dealer prior to doing all this work to make sure I would pass when I was done. I also verified once I picked up the car and the service tech's said I will pass if I get the horn functional. My front license plate has Velcro on the back so I can remove it after I pass inspection. Same rule as last year - about 200-300 miles in a year on the street, 2000 on the track. Don't be surprised if I come to a car show with the car in Tow. It'll only be driven on the street to hook up with all of the NEC5 folks for car shows.. The #'s and vinyl lettering will be attracting Law Enforcement like a magnet. Incognito my car isn't.. I expect to get pulled over so the Police can check it out at some point. I probably won't get a ticket, but My car will be high on their radar scope and they will know where to find me. Due to that fact, I'll drive it like an angel on the street - and like the devil on the track. Last edited by 600hp-lpe; 03-28-2011 at 12:05 PM. |

You will be a moving target for the police and that car will be unmistakable and easily identifiable. So you have no choice but to keep your foot out of it on the street.
