1LE diet

Anyone weight there 1LE yet? I ordered mine as stripes down as possible. Just wondering what they are coming in at and what areas are easy to drop weight outside of carpet and seats. Mine will be seeing a bunch of track days.

wheels - if you are going for a track focus, consider 19's or even 18's.
lighter suspension components - Pfadt has done a good job focusing on shedding pounds with their suspension pieces.
lightweight battery
exhaust - lots of weight to lose from the headers back. plus its a win win with the performance gains.

thats a start. putting your car on a diet is not cheap. I prefer it over F/I though. jmo.

You might also start looking at carbon fiber parts. As far as I know there are hoods, front fenders, doors, and trunks. I doing a diet plan for my car too, and I'm going to the extreme.

Rear seats/belts/bumper support front rear/battery will cut almost 100lbs. Stock exhaust is heavy too. Lighter seats..

Would be nice if the thin glass going in the Z28 would be standard in the 1le.

From a manufacturing stand point thin glass should be cheaper than the standard glass. The molds, check fixture/gauges are all done. Thinner glass means less material = less cost. From a bean counters standpoint there should be no reason not too.

Windshield washer bottle filled is easily about five pounds up front weight. Ditch the air pump and tire slime and drop a few more pounds out back.

I for one do not want thin front glass on a 1LE Daily Driver.

It is the rear glass only that is thinner.

That may not hold true when you consider the molds are designed for a given glass thickness, so new ones would probably be required. Compound that with the fact that the number of regular thickness windows in huge, and the number of thinner windows is not (much less product to amortize the set up time over). I would estimate the cost of Z/28 glass to be much higher than that of the standard glass in terms of manufacturing. It will certainly cost us more as customers! I do agree that the amount of glass, and thus materials, will be less, but not sure that will trump the other factors involved with manufacturing.

Hood is aluminum so you won't actually lose any weight there. Trunk will be a few pounds (mostly because with a CF trunk you won't have all that carpet/padding stuffs. Then the doors I would not recommend because all it takes is one person to clip you while you're driving to the track - and to say the least, you're going to have a bad time.

Lightweight racing seats, would probably help a lot, does anyone know if the 2014 recurs, are any lighter, or are they just meant for better bolstering?
