By all accounts, it's going to be slightly heavier, longer and wider when all said and done. I thought this was common knowledge by now.

Maybe it is. I can't keep up with every detail. I honestly thought I heard them say it was going to be lighter when they had the press release.

It should be by now, The C8 will be around 200lbs heavier than a compareable C7.

Well seems they pulled a Ford move lol. They knew it was going to be heavier, didn't want to say it so they only gave the dry weight lol

A Ford move would have been to not give any info at all. How much does the GT500 weigh again?

Well, according to today's press release, 4,225 for the base, something less (4,100-ish) for the CFTP. About 125 - 200 more than I thought. I was thinking 4,100 for base, 3,900 for CFTP. This will help goose the discussion that I'll be attending tomorrow. Tim Kuniskis, Carl Widmann, and Ed Piatek all on the same panel. I'm assuming Ed will be driving a C8, so I'll finally get a chance to see the finished product in the flesh.

It will be interesting to hear how the Ford community reacts to those weights. My gen5 ZL1 was called a fat sow for weighing 4,120 lbs.

It will also be interesting to see how the CFTP handles that weight on a track.

I think most of us here expected 4k plus anyway. How much does the Redeye weigh again?

Will this be a live event like that one video you did? If so, where can we tune in? And I have a request. Can you please ask Ed Piatek to clarify what he meant when he said that the C8 Z51 will outperform the C7 Z06 in every way? Did he mean on the track, straight line, top speed, quarter mile, all of the above? If you can get that question in there then I'd appreciate it.

If it is a live event then I will be tuning in.

Oh and at 4225 pounds I highly doubt the Base GT500 will beat a standard ZL1 around a track. That is a LOT of weight. For reference the Hellcat weighs 4448 pounds. The Redeye weighs 4,436 pounds. The ZL1 weighs 3,933 pounds. And the ZLE weighs about 60 pounds less than the standard ZL1 so that makes approx 3,870 pounds.

I gotta say, at $74K (not including markups) and 4225 pounds as compared to the $64K ZL1 at 3933 pounds, GM is really putting a beating on Ford. It really is a shame. That extra HP is not going to help it especially when the GT500 will be nose heavy and the ZL1 is well balanced.

Even at less than $60K and approx 3400 pounds the Base C8 is going to destroy the Base GT500. And I'm betting that the 1LT Z51 will eat up the CF GT500. If it is true that the Z51 beats the current Z06, then there is no hope for the GT500 at all. And the sad thing is that everyone was waiting for the GT500 to come in and save the day. Sorry Ford guys. Maybe next Gen.

M6G logic would dictate that the heavier base version of the GT500 beat the lower powered track ZL1 1LE due to its YUGE, 110 HP, power advantage. Bigly
