12 thru 15 zl1 has a usable back seat unlike 16 and up. Same for the front seating area thiers more room 12 to 15. But moving from a Corvette the front seating might not bother you in a 16 and up

It just depends what you want to do with the car. For a used 2012-2015 ZL1 around $30-40K, its a great buy.
I could not have said it better! The 13-15 models in my opinion are the best and it is alot of car for the money.

I second that. also consider taillamps I prefer the taillamps of the 2012 to 2013 zl1.

I understand it won’t (FEEL)
Like my old beast, 700-800 pounds. I also understand the rear vision from inside sucks. I don’t care. I think they’re bad ass cars.
And that’s why I’m on here. 🍺👍

Another question in my quest to purchase a Z. By installing a say, 20% smaller pulley on a 2012-2015 result in issues? And what kind of toque HP would be realized with NOother mods.

You need to do a little more reading, anything over 5% requires a tune, anything over 10% requires more fuel i.e. min 850 injectors plus some fuel pump assistance to maintain rail pressure. Above 10% I would question the merit as your increasing air flow to the engine but now restricted to release it without headers otherwise parasitic drag and unwanted heat soak.

I want to gather a lot of data before purchasing a used ZL1 as a new one is out of question. Are the any years to avoid?
Also desire the 10 Auto. Yah tired of shifting.
Also looking for a chart that shows the engine specs for each year. Yanks for your input.
Have you found a ZL1 yet?

For what it's worth. I have owned all of them 2 2017 models A10 and M6 and now 2 2013 models.

What isn't being mentioned, but should be, is the 2012 - 2015 models are far more comfortable to sit in than the recaros only in the 2017 and beyond. The interior is so cramped that my wife didn't enjoy driving it or riding in it at all.

I have never driven a Z06, but on paper the acceleration numbers are close enough and the way the 10 speed pulls is unlike anything I've ever experienced. Absolutely breathtaking. Still, I sold both my 2017 models and when I had the opportunity recently to purchase another ZL1 after being without one for months, I instead bought another 2013 without hesitation for 30k (one owner). My wife now looks for reasons to drive it again. The car has 10,000 miles on it and is like new condition with every available option. I plan to pass it down to my son.

Speed isn't everything for me. In a time where we are seeing 840 hp Demons and 760 hp Shelbys, there has to be other unique tangibles that make a car special. The seats recline all the way back, the motor presentation looks better under the hood. The car's stance is unmatched by the 2017 ZL1 although the ZL1 1LE has fixed that issue somewhat. Also the magnetic ride soaks up bumps far better in the 2012 - 2015. I think in 20 years and beyond, this gen 5 ZL1, 2012 and 2013 will be the ones that people will be after and pay a pretty penny for. They just got so many things right. Retro and modern styling combined. Today it still turns heads and if you want to mod it there are tons of things available. I am choosing to leave mine completely stock because reliability means more to me at this stage in my life.

Good luck in your decision.

Buying 15 or 17 ZL1

The difference in hp and tq are large but I may have to go with a 14 or 15. Due to financial limitations. Was wondering how much difference a 10% pulley will make on a 14-15. With NO other issues. Thx in advance.
