Hell with retro, I want these gauges

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/05/07/d...in-0-60-timer/

Apparently the Challenger SRT-8 sports a multi-functional display below the speedo that can do things like 0-60 times, 60-0, quarter mile, g-level and direction.

I realize that this will promote unsafe driving, but I want it anyway!

If I really want this, I'll install some other gauge with those features. I think AEM has some options that may be available after our ECM gets cracked.

Doesn't do anything for me, especially if there's a HUD option, I won't care about the gauges too much.

Would be a fun toy to play around with. But from what I've seen with devices like that they aren't exactly the most accurate things in the world.

One of the car mags pinned one of the SRT sub-compacts against the Mazda equivalent (I think it was the weird stationwagon style cars) and the Dodge had this fun little computer.

It was laughably inaccurate and a source of jokes for the testers. Like said above, the best bet is an aftermarket one that is not biased to the car it's installed in (but still some are better than others).

I hear ya, but I like the interior to maintain an OEM look. No tack-on gauge pods for me thank you.

The HUD is certainly a viable (and even desirable) alternative, but we need to see if GM wants to offer this premium feature (i.e. Corvette) on their entry level hot rod.

True, but probably more accurate and safer than trying to time yourself with a stop watch while staring at the speedo under hard acceleration. Scary as that sounds, there are probably quite a few members that have done such things.

I was thinking more along the lines of a pillar-mounted gauge pods, like the Cobalt SS offers stock. If there is eventually a Camaro with FI, then we should have gauges on the pillar anyway, so it wouldn't be so outlandish to install a pillar gauge pod.

Are there any aftermarket HUD options?

We might get something like this...that little screen in the middle of the guages does look like an LCD screen. Plus - we've been told there'll be a few surprises on this car. (this coming from people who know what we're thinking and expecting.)

I have to admit, that would be pretty badass to have if it were accurate. But then again, like Blur said, I could always get them installed later.

Ack! About the only thing out of those interiors that I want is the high quality stitched leather. GM can keep their 1960's vision of what a 1980's interior would look like.

yeah, I like some of the concept interior but Not really a huge fan of the speedometer and rpm gauges. I like the cluster, but I would like a more traditional speedometer.

Forget the gauge. Those things are very inaccurate. They are as usefull as a broken clock.
