Actually I was just thinking... Maybe I don't want them to know, then they can't find me, or remotely shut down my car for whatever reason... Now where's my tin foil hat?

Just bought mine, there's only one left on that auction and the price is now $179... Better act fast if you want one!

So I already added the steering wheel controls and had them programmed so the volume/stereo controls work. Do I have to get the car programmed again to get the bluetooth controls to work? I dont care about Onstar at all, I'll just buy that Ebay unit, and an antennae, then Im set if I read all this correctly. Just not clear if I have to get reprogrammed again. Also, do I just tell the dealer I want to order a bluetooth antennae? Thanks!

No programming is required for the bluetooth OnStar module.

Installed my new onstar/Bluetooth box tonight. Picked up the box for $179.99 (& free shipping), and I got the bluetooth antenna for $32 from the dealer. Very easy install, and it works. Great call quality! The first person I called was my dad, and he was very impressed with the clarity when I told him I was calling with the new equipment; said it sounded almost like a regular phone. The hardest part was getting the glove box back in lol.

*edit* I did notice that the OnStar light on the mirror is now red, where as before it was not on at all... I assume it was not on because my service was over and they told me they were "cutting the link" to my car, which was associated with the old box. I imagine they're probably getting signal from the new box now which isn't associated with an account, so the red light is on.

Cool! Glad it worked out for you! If you are not going to use OnStar, then the red light should not have any kind of effects on your car. Just watch your rearview periodically for that black suburban...

Ok...so I bought the new box and antennae on eBay and none of my Bluetooth devices seem to pick up any signal. Suggestions?? I reinstalled the fuse and wires correctly. I'm all out of ideas!

Did you go through the process of pairing a phone? Just hit the Config button then Phone settings, then pair device. They will give you a 4 digit code that you then enter into your phone when trying to connect to that bluetooth device. I believe the signal is called GM Vehicle.

Has anything changed for 2012 models? When I look at the specs for the 1SS, it says "Bluetooth® wireless technology for select phones" -- does that mean that for 2012 1SS owners already have the BT VCIM, and don't have to jump through hoops?

Thanks!
Kent

So is this module the one for 2011 Camaros?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/BLUETOOTH-ON...ht_5132wt_1163

It appears to be the part number listed for 2010 models, so I'm not sure that this will work with 2011 models.

FYI The part number for the 2011 Camaro is 20957195 or 22739886.

Check around ebay, gmpartsdirect.com, etc.

Does GM tech need to be called by the dealer in order to activate the new module so that onstar will work?

From what I remember, OnStar will indeed work, but the information on the module will be tied to the vehicle that it originally came from.

Well I'd initially bought the module unused on eBay for $199 2-3 months ago and the Bluetooth worked instantly. I finally bring it to the dealer to get it activated yesterday and found a tech willing to overlook the GM warnings. He got the light on green again, but when I called onstar to migrate my account over, they said they had some upgrades to do offline and that it could take 7-10 days until I hear from them. Anyone else have this issue? Also, as of this morning my phone no longer syncs and when I push "config" on the radio faceplate, it says that phone settings are unavailable! Anyone have any suggestions?
