Thank god I'm still alive

Long story short, I slid off the highway and went onto grass up a hill also managed to save it but the cars passenger rear is toe'd in I'm going to post the pics. When to a shop and they said the tab on that side was covered by the nut and the rear cradle needed to be replaced which Is there any way that I can get around buying a rear cradle

I would get a second opinion by the look of the second pick there isn't enough damage to bend the cradle unless you drove through a concrete culvert or something and the damage is underneath.

First off, glad you're ok. Second, sometimes the damage isn't enough to see visually, but if you put your car on an alignment rack you won't be able to align it properly. I would expect something else to bend before the cradle, but maybe you hit it on a rock directly?

In the second pic, should you be able to see part of the bolt hole there? I can't tell which bolt it is from the picture, but if the bolt hole is not supposed to be visible when installed and it bent/tore through the metal, then yes, they are probably right to recommend you replace it.

In any case, a second opinion never hurts.

A good fabricator can fix that very easily. But first I would go to a body shop and have them measure out the cradle to see if it's square. If its square you dont need to replace it. Find a hot rod shop and let them weld it up for ya.
If you go the replace route, I would let insurance pay for the new cradle.
