That's a gorgeous airplane. I'd love to build a flying replica of that.
I saw that in the old Smithsonian restoration facility years ago. Actually, I only saw the center section. It made me very sad because it was just sitting there rusting. I'm glad that finally restored it.

Love the Horten. The Germans had so many great ideas and designs, too bad they were for the wrong reasons.
All airplane buffs should head to the Steven F. Udvar Hazey Center in Chantilly, VA. You must also visit the sister site in DC at the Smithsonian. There is a wicked mural in the Smithsonian site of B-17's flying in formation. Been quite a few years since I last visited the Hazey Center. I need to get down there again now that I have better photo gear. A few shots from the last time I visited. I could live there! Check out the Arado! Looks ready to fly, it's got the rato rockets and all. The dorsal fin above the canopy is for the night vision goggle set. Yokosuka Oka suicide plane. One way ticket please, no bags to check in. They have a wonderful collection of aero engines. You can go up in the tower and watch aircraft take off from Dulles. This is a must visit museum. Last edited by BLK141SS; 07-18-2015 at 03:34 PM. |

I got to go to the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola a a few months ago when I was at Eglin for work, that is another must see. Pretty much every plane the navy has ever flown is in there, from WWI sea planes to Hornets, and 95% of them are in excellent shape. |

The American Air Museum in England (at Duxford) is worthy too.

Hopefully I'm in your situation one day. A job with flexjet, netjets, etc would be nice

I used to work for NetJets - I was included in the furlough of 2010. There has been tremendous labor/management relations difficulty over the past few years. They are in the process of negotiating a new contract. Hopefully that process is concluded soon and it becomes a good place to work again. Right now it is not... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Cl-65 might be the same cert as a Global Express. It might be worth a year at a regional to get the experience. I thought I wanted to do corporate. Now, I can't imagine being on call all the time, 16 hour flights with 2 crewmembers, sitting all day in an FBO, or being gone from home for 7 days straight. No thank you.

The Global is a BD700. I believe the CL-65 would cover a Challenger 850 but there aren't a ton of those out there. As far as corporate lifestyle, a lot of corporate gigs are on call all the time, but I don't know of any that push pilots like that anymore. With Safety Management Systems, operators are pretty much adhering to Part 135/121 flight and duty time limits. I'm sure there are some crappy corporate jobs out there, but my last two have been pretty good. In my current job we work less than 5 days/month with very few overnights (I have been Hilton Diamond status for years and am Silver now). We have three pilots and average around 100 hrs/yr/pilot. A lot of those hours come in big chunks on international trips. When we do get out on a long trip, we generally airline home, or we can bring our family along to join us. Dream jobs are rare, but they do exist! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
