true city drivers - what's your MPG? (v8 only please)

my average MPH is like 18 per tank. i don't drive on the freeway much, and if i do it's usually for less than 1 mile. i spend a lot of time at red lights, and overall as you can tell by MPH, i don't go very fast very far usually. my MPG is just under 11.0 with this 18 MPH average. also, i only fill up about once every 2 weeks even with that crappy MPG.

so i guess i'd like to know what other v8 drivers with less than a 20 MPH average speed per tank get in terms of MPG? i have a feeling there is nothing wrong with my engine...i just see posts boasting about 16+ MPG, but i really think if you measured MPH you would see it's probably 30+. FYI, one tank i had a 25 MPH average and my MPG was 13.3...so there is definitely a sliding scale effect here.

oh, the only mod i have is a halltech CAI. claims of improving MPG with a CAI is totally bogus IMO, at least in my experience...

I usually get 320 miles to a tank but its all city driving and I have a lead foot. Why did you buy the SS if you weren't going to get on it?

The MPG doesnt reset when you get gas, you have to manually reset it, if you didnt already know.

I dont drive in the city much, but id say 18 mpg all city is decent. I drive 90% highway and get 23.5, goes to 22 or 21.5 when I screw around with it. But cruise control + AFM = 23.5 hwy all week.

And MPG doesnt completely relate to average speed either, it only takes into account distance and gas consumption. And there are multiple efficient speeds, 30 isnt necessarily more efficient than 25, but 35 may be more efficient, lower RPMs with a faster speed, etc.

And I feel the DIC readout is a little off but close to accurate.

My driving is all city and I get 14 -15 mpg. I haven't checked my average speed recently, but when I did it was below 30 mph. My drive to work is about 5 miles only so the fastest I can go on that commute is about 40 mph.

I drive almost exclusively in town and I get average 16 - 17 MPG. That includes ocasional "spirited" driving. That's with headers/3" exhaust, a cai and a tune.

thanks for being pretty much the only person that actually read the post

if you are under 30mph and get 14-15, then 11 MPG @ 18 MPH average seems pretty appropriate.

30 mph average, 15 mpg (actual).

The mpg display says 16.7 mpg, but I manually calculate mine. The display will never be correct, you have to divide it out to get an accurate measurement. Those things always err on the high side. Stupid.
