Wood Panel walls... Paint or not??

Hey everyone. We are doing some. Renovations to. The house and I wanted to know your opinion on wood panel walls. We are debating on painting them in the living room or leaving them as is.

So, Does the bare paneling belong in the 70's or can they still look nice in a modern home. Post up what you think. Pictures would be cool too

I'd say remove them. Otherwise, I'd paint them white or stain them.

Definitely remove and sheetrock or paint a light or nuetral color. The 70's has lef5 the building lol. My house was built in '84 and never really updated so I have now begun the planning/ pricing of updating my kitchen, master bathroom, and interior paint/window coverings and Holy chit that stuff gets pricey. Probably going to dump one of my cars to do a complete renovation. Maturing really sucks lol

I moved into my house in April and painted them. They weren't cheap, flimsy panels, they were thick and sturdy so I figured that they could stay.

All depends on the look your really wanting for the house. If you want more of a rustic country feel I say sand and stain them. More of a contemporary look I would paint them a light blue or gray even. Pintrest is going to be your best friend for ideas!

As for me, I was always attracted by the view of the wood itself without any paint. I used to have a room with wooden panels on the walls and it looked really stylish. The only disadvantage is those nasty termites... Those bugs were a real disaster to us at our previous place. I tried using some tips to get rid of them but they totally spoiled my walls and some other wooden constructions all over the house. My advice is to cover those panels with some kind of insecticide to avoid such a problem in the future, don't matter if they are painted or not.
