Lovin' GM... Just Bought a New Malibu LTZ for the Wife

My wife wanted a new ride to replace her Saab 9-3 Aero of the last 5 years. And now the new Malibu.. we'll call her Violet.. cause she's gray... is the new ride in this family. Spacious, good looking, powerful and quick for this segment (0-60 in 6.5secs), 100K mile Warranty, Onstar Directions and Connection/Turn-by-Turn Navigation Free for a year, XM Radio, Black Leather under Metallic Gray, 2010 Top Safety Pick... simple a effin nice ride... She was at pretty hi-miles with the Saab... no warranty and hard to get parts.. Time for a change. Hell... tires were gonna run me damn near a grand and she was at that point.

Anyway... she liked the Regal, but didn't want to wait for the Turbo... so we got the Malibu.. which is easily in the top 2 best looking mid-sizers in the segment. The other one... the Passat... has reliability issues that not even having a Ride-Along Mechanic as Standard... would make some one feel comfy :(

She didn't like the Fusion.. at all. She did have us look at the Milan tho... She drove it. Said it was a decent enuff car, but felt it didn't handle as well as the Malibu or Regal. She felt as tho the Malibu and Regal were very similar in handling to the 9-3... which makes sense because the Malibu is on the same platform as her old Saab.. albeit longer, and set up softer in the suspension. She also preferred the interior, sound system, the looks, and with the kids, wanted OnStar... which is free for the year with Directions and ConnectionsIn the end it was between the Regal, Malibu, and LAcrosse. The Lacrosse was to large.. and the Regal doesn't have the turbo yet. She wanted something with as much power as her Aero

Good purchase. Mrs. Number 3 has had one (Malibu LTZ) for a year now. 36,000 miles and it's been a great car. 4 cylinder though, which is more than fine for the long highway commute she has.

Very nice! These Malibu's look awesome rolling down the highway.
I can't wait to see how GM improves it for the next redesign!

My preference is for the LaCrosse, but i'm a big car fan.

Still have to give U props for the SRX... LOVE that ride. AWD Turbo is just SEX ON WHEELS. Which they would make the CTS's 3.6L standard tho with a turbo 3.6 or 3.0L with 420HP as a Vseries. The handling in it is already superb, but I have to wonder what V-Series tuning would do for it.

It truly is a nice, dare I say "NEAR-LUX" vehicle in LTZ trim. The amenities are plenty... and she has a couple of goodies in here Malibu that I don't have in my Camaro.. namely AUTO CLIMATE CONTROL, and the regular 12V Outlet.

She will come back each time I mention it with... "Well I don't have the 550-some HP Cadillac.. or the Weekend Toy Vette... or a brand new Camaro for a get-a-round car.. or a Big 'ole Tahoe for Whatever.."

and to that I have no response

YUP... while the media tries and give props to Hyundai for the Melted love-child of the VW Cc and Toyota Solara... I decided to buy from Chevy a car that was designed 3 Model Years ago and Engineered 6 years ago (as the Malibu is essentially the G6 ver.3 after Aura) yet still manages to whip the competition in looks, tech, fuel economy, reliability, awards, confort, and quality.

HOTDAMN!!!! I LOVE AMERICA

i like the Malibu, but it would have been nice to share the same chassis as the G8.. they could have made the Malibu a mid level sedan between the G8 and CTS...

Hey, the 3.0L is nothing to scoff at. It's a very nice engine with sufficient power and great economy!

Agreed. I have driven the 3.0L in both the SRX, Nox, Terrain, and the Lacrosse... but I believe that the vehicle would benefit greatly from the same engine that is in my Camaro. It simply lacks torque in my opinion.. and has never made sense to use it in a vehicle that size. TURBO Charge it and U will see a small V6 with about 400+HP, making the 365HP 3.5L Ecoboost look sad
