Help with ACS hood liner installation problems
Okay I need some help from folks with ACS hood liners. I had mine custom painted but install is not great. It does not fit flush even when pushed firmly into place (like maybe it is a bit distorted /warped. Then when I drive around, the front part comes even further away from the hood (maybe an inch or so). We have tried using some 3M tape & even the Gorilla super grip version, in strips along the front but it is not holding. I have heard some folks ended up gluing theirs in but I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that. What have you guys/gals tried or suggestions?

I am of no help, but that looks beautiful if you can get it to work.

Sorry Ruby I don’t have any information but I have to say that your hood liner looks great! Hope you can get everything straightened out.

Hi Ruby , Thats one sweet looking hood liner . Any ways 1st thing did you check the retaining clips before you mounted the liner . Make sure the ridges were all new , no bent or distorted ones . I had one on mine and replaced it . I did a test fit to make sure all the push pins lined up . Then a couple of then didn't catch right , I had to really apply pressure to hear them seat good into the hood . I used a mico fiber cloth to push on . they finally clicked in . I also took some door edge guard trim found at Auto Zone and put around the edge of the liner for a tighter fit and finish look. I hope this helps . the only other thing is to make sure of the brackets holding the push pins are not sitting to high off the liner to make it flush with the hood . You can also contact Joesph he has a lot of tips for installing his parts . Hope this helps .

Thanks guys. Retainer clips were all fine & lined up well (much easier than my hubbie's did). I was thinking about doing the edge trim. Glad to know it worked out well on yours.

Still don't know what to do. ACS told a friend of mine to put a small amount of caulk on the retaining clips. ACS told me to use an adhesive around the edges. Problem is both of these would be permanent. This was not a cheap mod. What if, my luck, I got a dent in my hood & it needed to be removed to fix the dent? Perplexed.

If it is not flopping around I would do what a poster above did and put some door edge guard around it.

Ruby - that is awesome looking! I would use a 2 part epoxy to glue it in if your looking for a fastenerless look. You would need an epoxy that will work for the material of the liner and the clearcoat on the inner part of the hood. Clean extremely good with with a50/50 mixture of water and rubbing alcohol on the areas where you will put the epoxy.

I would not worry about needing to remove it. If that ever needs to be removed I would worry about it if that day ever arrived. Get r done.

That's like saying, "Hum, I think I'll super glue my hand to my face, I won't worry abut getting it off until or unless the need arises". Sorry, too late now.

Have you thought about using Velcro?

Silicone caulking always makes a good adhesive if left long enough to cure and you will have no problem removing it and re-installing it in the future if need be. It just needs more time to dry and cure.
