Yeah I've been looking at the differet header options as well, Yes there are more gains with Long tube headers but there will be problems passing emissions and you have to get a tune which isnt cheap, Im going to get Shorty headers in my V6 soon, not sure which headers to go with tho, JBA or D/T but I am leaning towards D/T it seems like more people go with those.

Shorties will pass emissions because we can use the factoy cats in the factory locations and your emission system will be unhanged. We use the same emission tests in the Baton Rouge area and mine has had shorties since it was two months old. The DT's weld to the top of your first cat. Long tubes cause you to relocate your cats and this i believe is not allowed in CA. You can go with DT's and have nothing to worry about when you get it inspected.

And yes it is, at least, a half day ordeal to get headers installed. There was also a question on just installing high flow cats. This would serve little purpose and definately throw a CEL, which is why LT's are getting them. The v6 manifold is rediculously small. Ditching the stock and getting shorties showed a 5hp and 8 torque gain, on Mrray13 with JBA's, and it did make a noticable depth to the exhaust tone.

Good info!

Getting by DTs on was kind of a pain. I had to take my car in the night before and pick it up the next afternoon (in a snowstorm no less), but they have performed flawlessly so far, and they look sweeeeet

I'm between Allentown & Philly. The dealer charged me $256 for the JBA install.

Took them about 3 man hrs.

A little more growl, a little deeper.More so after some miles are on them. The MRT's and the intake give more sound then the headers

You can't take the cats out and pass emissions. If you tune your car it will void your powertrain warranty. My advice is to go with the Doug Thorley or JBA shorties and you will get a great tone on your exhaust. You won't get the power gains that you would out of Long tube headers but you will still have the warranty. Just my .02 cents.

Personally I have the Roto-Fab CAI and then I cut the stock mufflers off and threw on some bullet mufflers with some 4" tips and it sounds amazing.
