Finally leaving the Camaro Nation

Alas guys, after 2 years of the most awesome experience in my life I am finally leaving the Camaro Nation. (Im getting a VOLT but thats another post).

As my volt gets closer to delivery I am really starting to contemplate what It would mean to not drive a camaro.
For 2 years I have driven with the smug confidence that I have the meanest car on the road. For some odd reason when you drive the camaro (now in its 3rd year) you really still special special. I still have people come up to me and compliment me and have vallet's get happy. I personally think short of a Lambo the camaro is the only car that you could pull up with at a 5 star Hotel and not feel awkward and out of place between all the 50K+ cars.

Anyways just wanted to get it off my chest. Maybe once I can afford 2 cars I will have another Camaro...
I really have a strong feeling I will be one of those guys that 15 years later will regret that I ever sold off my camaro and will be spending big bucks to buy a "vintage" Summit White 2010 with IOM stripes and Interior with the RS package.

I know Its gonna be some change....
The Number one factor for me is the California Carpool sticker that the volt now gets. For me that can cut my commute in the bay area (880 to 237) from > 45 mins to less than 15....

it's probably a sticker that allows vehicles to travel in special traffic lanes for high occupancy vehicle. around where I live they're called HOV lanes. they used to let hybrids use them until they started to get congested and went back to only vehicles with 3 or more people in them.

A sticker that allows you to drive in the HOV lane without another passenger. Atleast that's how it is in Florida

So a lot of the highways in super congested Bay Area have HOV/Carpool lanes that allow cars with more than one person to drive in them. Usually they are not congested and due to recent changes in carpool rules They are now also access controlled (you can't just enter the lane at any point.) The Lanes now have double white lines. With a carpool sticker you can drive in the carpool lanes with only one person in the car AND free toll on bridges!!!

I was about to say if the gas is the main factor for you then you should have gotten a cruze Eco manual. They cost half the price of the volt and on the high way with windows down it gets just about 50 mpg maybe more depending on you driving habits.

Well gas was never a concern for me. Most of my driving happens on my old skool Celica that gives like 30MPG+. Primarily Im getting it for the HOV Sticker. In fact the HOV program ends by 2015 and the Volt will be a lease that expires in (you guessed it...) 2015.
