Well after a lead on the forum today I got a call from a dealer up in MI. They had a buyer back out on a CGM 2SS/M6/GFX and sunroof. The car was for the wife and she initially wanted the IBM but CGM was her close second pick on the color. Anyway, she told me to tell the dealer yes. VIN is 18326 and lucky will still be a R6P. Now going up to MI on Sunday to pick her up.

As for my dealer, I went to 3000 on 25 Jun with a TPW of 7/27. I'm dreading the call to tell him I am backing out and that I would like my deposit back. That should be an interesting call. Think I am SOL on the deposit?

Wasn't the deposit for your "promise" not to back out? But then again, my deposit is going toward the price of the car...soooooooo, yeah! Go get that there dang deposit!

My guess is he won't care as much as you think he will. He will likely put a bigger mark up and put the car on the lot when it comes in.

It was going to the price of the car. I remember when I first put it down I asked what would happen if I backed out and he stated that until it gets accepted to GM for production, no problem. After acceptance, is when he had some heartburn.

He will definately not have a problem selling it for sure.

Yeah, if you back out, he's got a Camaro to markup as he pleases.

True. He has one on the lot for 5K over right now. He may be happy.

Maybe you should just get it and sell it yourself with a few grand over as a profit.

I think you should still get it and sell it for ab out 2 thousand more..Someone will buy it off of you brand new..

i dont same thing had ordered at one dealership was at 3000 then found another car at different place, i bought the one available and got my deposit back from original dealership.. no biggie he said

Yeah...your order locked out the price for the car. Now that you are no longer going to be the buyer...he has freedom to charge whatever price he wants....good god...its going to be horrible. Nissan Dealers are rediculous btw...They had a GT-R...MSRP 79k...he sold it for 110k. REDICULOUS.

I think it depends upon the expectations on when you ordered the car. You ordered it in March and that is some time to wait especially when you are only at 3000. If you ordered the car with a understanding that it was going to take this amount of time..then you should honor the commitment. If your dealer promised the usual 8-12 week delivery, then you have every right to back out. People on this forum get really upset when dealers back out of commitments but buyers should be equally accountable. If not, give up the deposit and be happy about getting the car sooner.

Very true and I am willing to forgo the deposit if he will not return it. I did make a commitment with him and although I will be out the money, my integrity will be in tact.

He is a great dealer and selling at MSRP for orders but upping the price for cars he gets on the lot. We will see.

Well, If I were that dealer, I'd so NO PROBLEM (as I have in the past) and post it up for grabs at MSRP OR LESS with GM DISCOUNTS....I'm sure it would be gone in less than an hour.
