Gettin Rid of My Front License Plate Bracket, What Are My Options?
Supposedly Ohio is going to do away with legal requirement of the front license plate. I would like to remove mine, but don't want to send my car to a body shop for filler and bumper repaint to repair those screw holes. Is there some other visually pleasing thing that I could do to hide the holes once that bracket is removed?

www.rpidesigns.com has body color matched plugs to put into the holes left. They're still visible up close, but help hide the holes and don't look too bad.

I have a set of two brand new ones if you want. Ordered 4 for some reason. Mine are cyber Gray Metallic. Let me know if this might be of interest to you.

It's still going to look like crap with those buttons in there IMO. I'd just bite the bullet and get another bumper. Does Gary still paint them for us?

Don't get a new bumper. Save the $$ and find a shop that can weld plastic (Im not crazy...Yes I said weld plastic) I had this done to my 02 SS after some one backed into it and cracked the bumper under the headlight. looked like new and never cracked again. Will have to have area painted. Touch up was all that I needed

I live in Ohio and it isn't going to happen. However I had the dealer not install the front plate and I ran with a tow hook mount.

What’s not going to happen? No front plate was passed this year, along with a hefty increase in Gas and even heftier Diesel fuel tax. Of course the tax increase was effective this July while the no front plate doesn’t go into effect until next July.

I did it the right way. Had the shop repair the holes and then paint it. It's a much cleaner look than the plugs some are using.

Again, I would do it right and get a new bumper or have a body shop fix the screw holes and have it repainted. With a metallic color like that, you will have to repaint the whole bumper for a proper color match. Of course, it's ultimately up to him. Do it ghetto-fied with plugs and dealer touchup paint or have it done professionally. If it was my car, I'd spend the money and have it done professionally, especially on a nice ZL1 like that. |
