So I get a call on my answering machine, saying that they need to talk to me about the usb interface, and tell me to call back. Less than a half hour later I do, and cant get ahold of anyone, so I leave a message. 8 hours later nothing, no returned call.

Looks like my saga is ending. Stopped by and talked to the dealership owner/manager yesterday and he called me back telling me that the newest module, 22797218, has been ordered. Must have had some issues as he promised me that he would call me with in an hour. It took like 6 and he apologized about being late about calling me back. Sounded like he had issues getting the correct module. The meeting started out a little tense but ended on a high note.

Finally got level DB/DD installed today.

Some observation:
Jeff Morris, Chevrolet Customer Service helped some.

GM's Customer Satisfaction was of no help, that I could see. For this issue I would have been farther ahead to not have even bothered them and going to the step that finally got it resolved, I hope.

The only way I finally got this issue taken care of is by going to the dealership owner/manager. Things started moving then. It took about 9 trips to the dealership, with them working on it 5 different times.

Thanks Jeff.

I would think it would be in GM's best interest to avoid wasting so much time on this. Why can't all service departments be made aware of the correct fix? Surely the correct fix doesn't cost more than all the wasted time?

There seems to be a disconnect between the PI0055B and GM;s reorder part #'s. According to my dealer, the module shown for my 2011 was the older version 20927509 which gives DA/DX HW/SW and not The 22797218, which gives DB/DD. Before I produced the PI0055B document they told me that I had the pt # listed for the car. Even after I got them to read the PI , wasn't able to get anywhere. Some one, and I blame GM, wasted a lot of my time. But guess all is well that ends well.

KUDOS TO JEFF MORRIS & HENNA CHEVROLET

Thanks to Jeff Morris, I shall now consume a portion of crow. Here's the storyline:

(JAN 2011)

I was experiencing most of the USB issues documented in this thread, so I called my dealer and ordered the new PDIM (PN 20985421), which is a 2011 part by the way. Once I knew they had the part, I took SDCamaro10’s post (the TIS2WEB update) to my dealer and asked if they could install it and flash the radio under warranty. The service manager said “no problem,” and they were going to do it while I waited. Unfortunately, when they tried to enter the warranty ticket into the GM database, it got kicked back. The service manager picked up the phone and called the GM rep, who said they wouldn’t cover replacing a 2010 PDIM with a 2011 PDIM.

Well, the service manager was almost as incredulous as I was and offered to do the job at cost. Instead, I purchased the part at cost (about $110) to install myself, and he offered to flash the radio for free. I had torn the console apart once before to install the switch and wiring harness for my exhaust cutouts, so the installation only took me about 30 minutes...

The only option they offered me under the warranty was to replace my current PDIM with the same PN (the one they already know is defective). Surely the number of people on this thread is not enough to overwhelm one of the largest corporations in the world. Release the TSB, build the parts, and honor the warranty. It shouldn't be this hard. And the people who bought these cars with defective PDIM's shouldn't have to wait around (possibly until their warranty expires) for GM to get their act together and fix the problem.

Let's see what happens.

This just arrived in the mail with a check attached. Jeff, I take back all the bad things I said about GM (that's some tasty crow), and you are definitely the man.

Im still waiting on my dealership. I finally made them understand that my part is DA and the bulletin specifically says that if you have DA, to replace it with DB. All this after he told me that the gm tech he called said the part they installed with DA was the latest part number my warranty allowed.
