Extended Warranty Help

Hello Everyone
New here. I test-drove a 2020 Camaro 2SS on turo and LOVED IT so much I want to buy one. I saw that hertz sells them for a good price (and yes if I purchase from hertz, I will get an inspection). I saw a 2020 for about 34k with 46k miles on it. However, I have never purchased a car without an extended warranty just in case something goes wrong. I've had Hondas and Toyotas I had in the past that went wrong and would have been VERY costly without one.

With all this being said can someone please recommend a dealership/company that will sell me a warranty without the expensive markup? I have been seeing some for sale by dealers for 5 - 7k which is crazy. Thank you!

I have used Dennis Fitchner (best price) 406 698 6355 for a GMEPP plan for my Corvettes in the past. He works for a Chevy dealer in Montana. It can all be done over the phone and he'll take your credit card then email you all the paperwork. I've also heard that the dealer in N.J. that used to be Kerbecks is pretty good too.

I reached out to him before and he said "new GM warranty will only cover a vehicle still in the factory 36/36" which sucks.

That's odd I last used him for the '09 vette that was just short of 10 yrs old, which the limit at that time was 10 yrs. Things may have changed, but it is easy enough to make a call. I agree that if that's the new policy it does suck.

What can a person expect to pay for a extended warranty. My fa factory one is about done. Added one on wife's jeep. Love it

I paid about $1500 for 100k mile warranty on my 1SS Convertible.

Also need to get an extended warranty on my 2022 Silverado 2500 diesel.

Had an extended warranty on my past Wrangler. The whole electrical system needed to be replaced as well as both batteries. Would have been expensive without the warranty.

Since I track mine and have already had a blown engine, I was thinking about extending the warrantee. If anybody can answer, the following, I'd appreciate it:

1) Can the extended warranatee be started after the 3yr/36K bumper to bumper is up?(otherwise wastes 2 yrs of extended powertrain because of overlap with OEM 5yr powertrain warrantee)

2) Would an extended GM warrantee cover track use like the original warrantee did?

If Hertz is like Enterprise, they may offer extended warranty of different lengths.

I know my extended overlaps with my CPO but still lasts until 2028 or 100k if that helps at all. I have the GMEP Silver? I want to say? Covers everything short of electrical and audio/nav issues

If you plan to finance the purchase, and might use your own financing source, that source may try to "upsell" and offer you an extended warranty.

I financed my 2016, purchased in Jan. 2022 and past OEM coverage, through my credit union. They offered me a warranty and I was immediately skeptical, having been there, as a BMW "Sales & Leasing Consultant", in the late '90's when aftermarket warranties were absolute gobbitch.

But there was lots of detail on what was and was not covered, and a three-year printout of *local* claims that had been paid for. Some were pretty big items; I was specifically looking for transmission work, and yep, it looked like there were at least three full replacements, with costs of the work running into the five figures.

Cost of the plan: +/- $1,700. I figured, if *anything* of even medium complexity happens just once, I could probs be looking at over a grand, and if it was the transmission / torque converter / whatever, then who knows. I went for it. I was also given the option to pay it up front or fold it into the loan.

Worth asking your financing source.

Get a quote from these guys. As long as your factory warranty is still in effect, they can sell you discounted GM plans. There are too many variables to say what your cost would be. Todd S is generally less, but is sometimes a bit harder to get ahold of.

I bought one for my 17 Corvette Grand Sport from Todd two years ago. Half of what the selling dealer quoted.

I also used Todd for the extended warranty on my ZLE. He was $600 less than my local dealer.
