2013 ZL1 with 104,000 miles worth?
I have found a 2013 ZL1 with 104,000 miles on it. It has headers and a cold air intake and has been lowered. It is the crystal red tintcoat color with a automatic trans. No moonroof. Everything looks good except the front splitter has been banged up and both front wheels look to have been curbed. asking 28,900. I was thinking 23-24. KBB says 27,500 to 30,500. Guys let me know what your thinking. Thanks

I imagine that if the cosmetic defects mentioned are relatively minor, and it was lowered correctly, and it starts and runs fine/reliably, and the interior is well cared for, then the asking price is probably close to what it's worth. You could probably argue that you don't want to have to pay for the cost of the mods and see if he'll do close to the KBB low end of 27500 (arguing that it'll take a decent chunk of change and time to replace the splitter and repair the wheels) and see if he thinks it is a fair compromise.
These cars took a bit of a dip in value, but they seem to have bottomed out and are even starting to gain value again. It may be wishful thinking on my part, but I think the 5th gen ZL1s will be part of the handful of very desirable camaros built in this era. 5th gen ZL1s, Z28s, and 6th gen ZL1 1LEs I believe will all keep their value (and in our case re-gain value) over the coming years and decades. Everything else..not so much. Asking him to knock off 5k will probably just insult him, and if he responds it will probably not be a 'willing to even deal with you' response. |

Asking prices for cars similar to mine are $5K more than I paid in 2018 with only 3K miles. I would say this is not a good time to be shopping.

I shopped for a long time before buying mine. That car with that mileage has been going for around $30K. I agree that I think you’d make him grumpy offering that low, but hey if it’s been sitting for a while get his temp on negotiating. I’ve always managed to get amazing deals on every vehicle I’ve bought, but I’ve walked away from countless ones that wouldn’t play. Treat the seller with respect & you’ll keep the door open even if you lowball.

The magneto suspension is different. I wouldn't want a lowered car as I highly doubt a tune to change it in the computer was done, if it even can be done? I'm sure the seller will handwave it and say it was done by joe the pro don't question it.
I replaced a wheel position sensor because a better scanner I got said it was bad even with no dash codes. It did start to ride terrible but I didn't notice it right away or have a clue why. It rode great again after repair, noticed night and day on first drive On replacing it I noticed in service manual on adjusting the height as it can slide on it's bolt to adjust. Seems like you need that full 2tis whatever it's called computer and subscription to see that. Don't know if it reads in ohms and you could even set them to fool the computer. Probably not. Given that I'd want to rebuy and install stock springs to start and that makes it an even worse buy given the high mi. I'd just leave it for someone that wants a "badass" car that was lowered. |

Well I was thinking about buying it just because everything I read and hear the automakers are going electric so I thought about getting it and replacing things it might need and hang on to it. But after more thinking I guess I will just pass on it. Thanks for you guys input on this car. Probably saved me a bunch of cash!

I thought about doing that very thing! I really think it could be bought for 25 maybe 26 and I don't think that would be a bad buy. I am still thinking about it pretty darn seriously.

Don’t forget we can’t get parts for these cars anymore. No magride struts, i was looking into buying the factory z28 exhaust system even that is discontinued through GM.

LOL! Thats funny my significant other! I wonder about this ecomony right now also and the interest rates are up so now probably is not the right time to buy one. I imagine a guy should hold on to his money for at least another year to see what washes out on the ecomony because I would rather have money to eat with than have another car in my garage!

Not just interest rates. Banks failing in a debt driven economy is a sign of weakness. Socialism with a national debt in the trillions and natural disasters everywhere are also signs of weakness. We are not the UNITED State of America I was born into. If anything, I would sell the one I have to add cash.
