Is it OK to paddle shift down from 2nd to 1st

I have a 2013 Auto ZL1. Recently I paddled down from 2nd to 1st as I approached a red light and the shift wasn’t denied - and it sounded glorious.

I was always told it’s a no-no to shift to 1st unless the car is at a dead stop so I wanted to see if the car would allow it. I was just wondering if this is OK in the ZL1 or should I avoid it. I might have been going 25km/hr at the time and she roared but it sounded incredible. Don’t want to damage the car for an eargasm though.

And yes it was glorious !! Haha.. no it sure did have me concerned too ..

As long as the Programming will let u it's fine

If you try to downshift at an overrev the Computer will not let you
Same as if you try and up shift with not enough revs it will not allow you to shift

Perfectly fine - when it’s not it will deny you. Trust me I’ve gotten the warning lol

Yep, you be good, I do it a lot, and yes it is GLORIOUS!! If the revs are too hihg you will get the "shift denied" message. This way you won't mess up anything because the computer knows it's not safe. I usually only do it when I'm coming to a stop around 10mph of slower.

Same usually around 10-15mph. And also love the torque at that speed in first when you just tap the gas. My kids always get a huge kick at the crazy torque.

Oh yea, THAT is an awesome feeling!! And being able to just blister those 335's in 1st, 2nd and 3rd is kinda amazing too!! Need DR'S... But they don't make them wide enough for my 11.5 inch wheels... lol
