Just thinking out loud...

If Cadillac is willing to share (which it appears they will be), this...

+ this...

+ the engineering and tech from this...

...would likely send Raptors crying home to Dearborn...

That is impressive.

But ask BMW owners how multiple throttle bodies worked out with the old V8 in the M3.

How about we skip the full size and put that engine in the ZR2 directly? Cost savings!

Put any decently performing (400+ HP) V8 or TTV6 in a Colorado and I will be very tempted to dump my current Camaro and Colorado for it.

FEN...I wouldn't be surprised at all to see a true Raptor fighter come in the next year or so from GM. My opinion, but a more power engine is all it would take for the ZR2 to be a better all around off road truck than the Raptor (It already is in many ways), but if the buyer wants the larger size, well then that's a problem.

What I want to see is a Sport Colorado or Silverado....although the size of Colorado seems to make more sense to me. But hey, they are trucks which really doesn't make much sense in terms of "sport" anyways, but I just want it lol.

I actually would be kind of surprised. The Raptor has been around for almost 9 years already with no competitor from GM in those 9 years

I wonder if that was part of the decision to go with such a small bore.

Absolutely. A smaller bore on its own doesn't lighten an engine. But a smaller bore spacing (like this new engine family) does. It shortens the block casting, which also means shorter heads, cams, and crankshaft.

GM's new 4.2 twin turbo V8 550hp, 627lb ft torque

Something to maybe look forward to in the Camaro and Corvette.

I personally wouldn't feel thrilled about a twin turbo 4.2L in any Camaro model.

I WOULD however love to see a NA 4.2L V8 as a entry level 1LT model.

Cadillac exclusive. Don't count on this being directly applied anywhere else.

Think CT6 V-Sport.
