Quick question since we are on the dealer question....my dealer says I am in slot #1, in his allocation of 3. One of the cars ordered is a V6. If I go see my dealer and ask him about this Feb. 6th date, is he going to have any clue what I am talking about?

To be clear, yall are saying, that they can submit whichever order they want first, either the 1, 2, or 3 allocation, right?

Are yall saying it would do me no good to go down there, and try to confirm that I am honestly in slot #1?

First Angela, they can only order what GM tells them they can have. GM may very well tell them they can only have a V6 in the first "lot" and that's the only car they're getting until the next consensus. Now the dealer has the choice whose V6 to order; the guy in slot 1 or slot 6 or a lot car or whatever.

That clears up some smoke for me, but....out of the 3 orders they have, only 1 person ordered a V6.....so what am I missing here???? The allocations aren't set in stone??? This is just lovely info here! If I missed a thread or something, I apologize....

Here's my understanding. In the first order period (first consensus) every dealer will get 2 cars. The first will be a v6 that does not count as part of their allotment. I don't even think they can option it out. GM will just be sending them a car that is supposed to go on the lot/showroom. The 2nd is of their choosing.

About the allocation rank... if the dealer says you are #1 out of three, that means that he is telling you the first car he can order will be yours (as long as he CAN order what you want, there might be constraints on your choice). But, there's no system preventing him from ordering a different car ahead of yours. He could order his own SS in front and there's nothing anyone but the dealer's management/ownership could do about it.

The number of TOTAL allocation was supposed to be set in stone as a minimum- in your dealer's case, 3. Like I said, on Feb 6th GM may tell your dealer they can have a V6, or they may tell them they can have a V8, or they may tell them they get none in the March production run. In that case it will be a whole month more before they know if and what they can order for the April production run. Get where I'm going?

You just have to trust that when GM finally tells your dealer that a V8 is available to them that they actually order yours.

Well, all this should be cleared up on 2/6, right??? I will have to go confirm all this stuff with them, if that is the case.

Thanks for laying it out for me

You're welcome.

Will it be cleared up on Feb 6th? In your case, only if your dealer is told a V8 is available to them at that point. Otherwise, unfortunately, you're waiting until March 6th (or thereabout) to maybe find out... then April 6th...

I don't want to be the grim reaper but I don't want to see you get your hopes up and get them crushed. Or, it could very well work out just as you would like, just as easily.

My understanding is that ALL dealers will get 2 cars (one will be configured by GM for lot and not part of the allotment) and that there will not be any constraints on v8's, particularly in the beginning. If that's correct and the dealer doesn't play any games, all of the people who are #1 at the dealer should get their cars in the first batch. Either way, this will all be much more clear on Feb 7th (after the dust settles).

3000 Accepted by production control 3/13/07 2500 preferenced 3/13/07
2000 Accepted by GM 3/8/07

So I personally am @ 3000 as of today hope to be 3300 or 3400 by next week.
But my question is, I look at this example of the Sky above and it looks about 25days from 3400 -5000 @ dealers.

Is it safe to assume a 25-35 day time frame for those with the TPW of 3/16?

Has any one else ordered a car from GM or have any more examples like this?

or the dealers out there any input with orders you have placed?

Yes I have that info in this thread already but im interested in the Time Frame. from

3300 Order Scheduled for Production here
3400 Order Broadcast (Internal Plant Order Produced)
3800 Vehicle Produced
4000 Vehicle Available to Ship
4104 Bailment Invoice Created
4B00 Bayed ("B", not 8)
4106 Bailment Released
4150 Vehicle Invoiced (Dealer Billed)
4200 Vehicle Shipped
4300 Intermediate Delivery
4V03 4V03 Estimated Delivery Date
4800 Rail Ramp Unload
5000 Vehicle at Dealer To here

I see 25 days in that sky that was ordered should we expect about the same time? starting 3/16 -3/22 for those that have that tpw?

is that an average time for car to be built and shipped?

There is a Corvette one here somewhere that showed 9 days from 3400 to 3800. That being said, that's in the middle of a normal, on-going, production run.
