I picked up a set of 17" rims, Blizzak snow tires and TPMS ready to bolt onto my camaro when they arrived three days later in the mail. Whole thing cost me less that the snow tires would have for the stock rims. Tire Rack's basic 17" package for camaros runs $940 but I think you have to add another 200 for the TPMS. For about $100 more total, I got a set of Motegi Racing MR113s that look great and as I said above, still came out much less than snow tires for the stock rims... plus no installation costs.

I was considering that too but I think only 20s fit over the Brembos.. maybe 19s

Yeah, I have a 2LT RS, so not Brembo issues. I think I read 19 is about as low as you can go on those, but I am certainly no expert in that area. I have a little more flexibility in that area.

"Chains" (cables) are also a option. If you get Z-cables you should be fine (they are small cables for low-clearance operation - where you can't use actual chains).

I have run cables on my 1994 Camaro in the snow when I've been up to the mountains and it works fine. Just gotta remember to put them on the drive tires and drive slowly (light throttle).

Make sure you get the Z cables though - not the regular I cable ( ZZZZ vs III). Learned that if you have ABS you need the "Z" cable to make sure to maintain as much contact with the road surface (least amount of exposed tire).

I bought a set for my 2013 Equinox too - worked nicely, and it has VERY little clearance between the tires and fender. Cost me $80.00? I think? From autozone.

Might be better than spending $$$$ on snow tires.

edit: Better Link
The following chains will fit tire size: 315/35-20

Trying to drive in snow with stock P Zero tires is like trying to turn competitive quarter mile times on stock tires. Fish out of water in each case. Use the right tool for the job.

If you want to drive in the snow the fix is different tires or a different car

There are things to do to help you drive better in snow but it ain't gonna help all that much

not to be a dick, but it really doesnt matter how much horsepower you have.

Good tires period. My 1LT came with all season tires & I never had a bit of trouble driving in the snow. But as far as I know all the V8's come stock with performance tires and I think they are not rated for anything below like 30-40 degrees. Then just common sense. In snow use your gears more & your brakes less, very easy on the gas pedal, no sudden moves of any kind & stay out of the way of idiots. Ice storm............stay home no matter what kind of tires you have.

I took mine out today even thought the wife told me to take her car instead but I wanted to see how well it handles in the snow. And we had a lot here in Bensalem Pa. If you saw the Eagles game today it was just lime that. Anyway I drove slowly and stopping in a straight line was no problem, didn't even skid. Went up a hill and stopped on the hill, went to accelerate and I swore the wheels were spinning but I managed to move forward without tailspinning. I felt some jerking on the back wheels but I figured that was the traction control. The only time I had issues was when I made a turn, I fish tailed a bit but the car corrected itself. The other time was when I was turning down my street I turned a bit quicker fish tailed again and the car corrected itself. I wasn't going that fast but just wanted to see, there weren't any cars around or parked. I did see a SS making a turn today and he got stuck, must have tried to accelerate and fishtailed and couldn't get straight. I saw the car parked when I was leaving the store and it was just sitting there with the lights on. Maybe just freaked out? Idk. But my car was just the same as my Honda Accord was in fact that one didn't handle as well as the Camaro did. Will I get stuck on a hill with rwd? Probably, but it's the same with fwd as well.

The SSs and RSs come with Pirelli P-Zero Summer tires. They are not rated for anything under 45 degrees.

I agree they get quite hard and they can break away easily quite entertaining actually. I would get a used set of tires if it if it snows for (4 weeks or so) we got a little snow a while back and I got as far as 20 feet before I took a turn and the car was running away sideways no throttle at all got to love black ice with a little snow.
