Anything that impedes visibility is a dumb move, IMHO. So I vote "no", though I agree that they do look pretty cool.

I would leave them alone. They already have a slightly tinted look.

do you like getting pulled over and haressed by LEO's? I say if you can handle that and like the look then do what you want, just be smart about it! (IE: dont use that nightshade spray paint crap cause it blocks out way too much light and if some one rear-ends you it will be your fault regardless of what happend)
FWIW I tinted my RS brakelights, there very dark when off but have been able to fight in court that the still meet DOT standards for visibility when on.

People follow way too close as it is, why give them an excuse not to stop when you do? I like the look for shows, but not for the road.
