Emissions testing

I have a 2013 2SS 1LE Camaro. It is due for emissions testing in the next few weeks.

Some questions.
Nothing was done to it except and Air Raid installed Cold Air intake. They put it on the dyno and got about 18 added hp to the wheels.

They claim that they checked it and it will pass emissions.
Question: Any thoughts or experience whether or not the cold air intake will screw up the emissions test.

Also I have a mild to wild switch on the car and its always set to wild.
Question: will that affect the emissions test and should I put the switch back to stock?

Thanks
Jim

You will be fine. Most places will only plug in your car. No codes = passing.

x2. CA seems to be the only state that requires CARB certified plaques and modifications. As long as you haven't REMOVED emissions related items (or at least it doesn't obviously look like you did), and you don't have a CEL, you'll be fine.

No problem ,if you have cats and no check engine light on , and no readiness codes your good to go . That CAI should pass the tamper/visual inspection .Leave your switch on mild for inspection.Gordon Darby and most if not all their employees are idiots . Check out the rip off report on Gordon Darby in Mesa and never let them put an older vehicle of yours with a clutch on the rollers .

Your fine. I'll pass next year with an S/C, no cats, and a solid tune. No CELs of course.....the only vehicle I've ever had visually inspected was my diesel truck. They always looked underneath for the cat on that truck....Never seen them do a visual on one of my cars. Just an OBD hook up and tail pipe sniff at most.

FYI, they are supposed to look under your car with a mirror for cats on all cars that are required to have them that they inspect including 1996 and up . And just because the MIL light is not on they will also check and see if readiness codes are present . Now weather the Gordon Darby inspectors always do their job on the visual cat inspection I cannot say . But it is required . On-board diagnostics test — a control system exam designed to find problems in a vehicle before they cause emissions issues or engine failure (only for light vehicles manufactured in 1996 or later).
Diesel test — a car smoke test that evaluates the density of a diesel vehicle's smoke.
Note: A visual smog certification test known as "tampering" may also be performed on an inspected vehicle in order to make sure that various emission control components were included by the car manufacturer, such as the operational air pump, the catalytic converter and the evaporative control system.

Yep. Most of the big name cold air kits do right about that.

CreeperRS got 16 rwhp/10 rwtq. His shop baselined his otherwise stock 1LE, swapped in the Z/28 cold air kit and dynoed again.

Here's his post on it: https://www.camaro5.com/forums/showp...&postcount=135

16 IS A BIT OPTIMISTIC , Ted did a very fair and comprehensive test on a dyno back a while ago and 12 hp was about as good as it gets ,and that was with a scoop . I very much doubt the Z28 cai is any better than the Rotofab that is the same open top design .

Jannetty did better than 12 on some. Anyways, 12 or 16 or 18? Not much difference and it's on different dynos. And, we all know that dynos compared to one another don't mean much.

Anyways, decent power gains can be had with a cai w/o tuning.

12 peak check the chart , and with a stock tune. Ted did the fairest most comprehensive test at the time and all on the same dyno . Now with a ported TB, long tubes ,93 octane and a good sharp tune the numbers get much better with a good cai.
