Crazy question for Camaro owners with new kids.
I say it's a crazy question, because others have thought me mad at the thought. Here goes: Have any of you been able to successfully put a car seat in your Camaro? We are having a baby in late November, and I need to find a car seat for our soon-to-be-born baby. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
(Mods, if this is in the wrong place, please move to the right place, and accept my apologies.) |

having a rear facing seat will be hard to do, if you plan on having someone in the passenger seat. if it's just you and the baby, then it wouldn't be a problem to have the passenger seat all the way forward and tilt the back forward, and put the rear facing seat behind the passenger seat.

Thanks. It will have to be able to fit with my wife in the passenger seat. Having the seat pushed forward shouldn't be a problem, as she's done this when we've had passengers in the back seat.

Yes I do it every week with a rear facing car seat.

Our rear facing seat barely fits, if the front seat passenger has short legs. The front seat has to be all the way forward to make it work, but its doable. You'll need a seat with a narrow base, and probably have to put a rolled towel or pool noodle under the front of it to achieve the proper recline angle. Seats with bases and removable uppers make life much easier, just leave the base in the car and pop the seat out. Convertible top helps too.
I'm told front facing seats fit much better and let you slide the seat back farther. http://www.camaro5.com/forums/attach...1&d=1413419482

No problem here with a car seat when I had one. I imagine your spouse will want to sit in the back with the baby at times. Need to consider room behind the driver too.

You're wife better seriously be a midget if she's riding in the passenger seat. A full grown person CANNOT ride comfortably with a rear facing car seat. If they can? Snap a pic of it and post it. Otherwise I call bullshit. My gf is 4'11" and she cant ride comfortably AT ALL with a rear facing seat. It's pointless. Car was not made for that.

My son just turned two and I haven't had to trade in the Camaro yet! Have an Evenflo Triumph 65 seat, it looks cool and fits pretty well in the back. Reverse is worse but once they're able to go front facing it's pretty fine. Wife fits and shes tall like 5'10".
You can get a big stroller in the trunk too! Things a family car. :-) http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=249841 I have this seat: http://www.sears.com/evenflo-triumph...1&blockType=G1

We've put over 5000 miles on ours this summer with my wife in the front and daughter behind her, getting in and out requires a bit of contortion, but once she's in she's as comfortable as she would be farther back. She's 5'4" When we bought the car, we didn't think it would be possible either, and figured we'd have to wait until the kiddo transitioned to a forward facing seat to do family rides... but we tried it on a short cruise around town and it worked, slowly started doing longer and longer trips, and still no issues. If the car wasn't made to have carseats in it, it would not have LATCH anchors.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention the stroller. With some finagling ours will fit in the trunk, even with the top down. We have a Uppababy Mesa carseat and a Uppababy Vista stroller. Will soon need to start shopping for a forward facing carseat, so far the Recaro Performance Sport is at the top of our list.

Are issues for new kids any different than old kids?
