How much did you pay?

How much did you pay for your cam and install and tune on your LS3?
Please specify what cam you have.

My install was $825, yeah ouch, but.........

I would have done the install myself but I work OCONUS and it was "easier" to pay to have it installed than wait for and waste valuable vacation time at home. The labor included the time to install the rocker trunion upgrade too and Melling oil pump.

I believe a tune would be $450 but I didn't have to pay that, being a return customer an updated dyno tune is $150.

Cam kit, it's a Comp Cam spec'd by New Era Performance. It included the cam, pushrods, Lunati valve springs, LS7 cam gear.

Wow, I don't think I've seen a price so low, most people are paying 1500 for install.

My install was free.

Cam was $450.
BTR .660 Springs were $299
Pushrods were $125
Lifters were $140
Lifter Trays were $30
C5R chain was $150
Timing Gear was $30 (I think)
LS2 Damper was $20
Dyno Tune was $300

I paid $5500 in parts and install. Install and tune was about $2300, $500 for the tune. I was originally quoted 1800 for install and tune, but then they had to pull the motor to put in oil pump and converter so that jumped up my price.

If I break it down it looks like this, I posted the wrong labor first time but it was close.

Cam kit: (Cam, Springs, Pushrods, LS7 Sprocket) $820
Trunion upgrade kit: $145
Powerbond 25% UD Pulley w/belt: $210
Melling oil pump: $140
Re-tune: $150 (would have been $450 if it were a new customer so figure the difference)
Labor: $880

So all the parts, labor & re-tune: $2575.80 including tax.

They most likely did that because of the oil pump install and the converter. You do not need to pull the engine to install one. It probably just seemed easier because they had to pull the pan for the oil pump anyway.

Oil pump, no pulling the pan required, pull the timing chain cover.

I know it isn't required. They probably thought it was easier to pull the engine to knock them both out. There is no reason you can't do a converter by pulling the trans.

wow seeing these numbers you all paid is...WOW...I followed the setps of the thread someone posted on here a while ago. Free install for me! Im out about 500-600 in parts total. 380 for the tune.

Local shops near me charge 600-1000 for the install from what I've been quoted. One shop is 1800 out the door with tune if you get the cam and parts all through them.
