Engine won't rev with brake pedal pressed
Noticed this the other day, wondering if anyone has any ideas.
2012 SS/RS L99. If I'm stopped and in drive (or sport mode), if I hold my foot on the brake and press the gas pedal down, the engine will not rev at all. It just sits at 1000 rpms and nothing happens. How's a man supposed to do a burnout, or launch a car without a car that will rev? I don't have a launch mode, if my foot isn't on the brake the car will accelerate without any issues.

Have you tried with the traction control off? If not hold down the button for 10secs to disable it and then try to rev it with your foot on the brake.

Yup its normal, you need to turn off traction control in order for the car to let you do a burnout.

IIRC, pressing the Traction Control button twice will bring up "Competition Mode." This is supposed to allow you to hold the brake, floor the accelerator, and it will hold the RPMs at some predetermined point, and once you let off the brake, the car is in 'full send' mode.
I've seen it in my DIC, but my car is an M6 (2012, SS/RS), so I'm assuming it's the same with the L99. |

OK, holding the button down did the trick. Double-tap competition mode didn't allow it to rev either.
This is my first automatic since electronic throttle, stupid electronics All of my other Camaros were manuals

Pressing the button twice and putting it in comp mode only disables your ABS system, to do a burn out you only need to tap the button once to disable the traction control, then do your thing !! If you are road racing you can hold down the button for 8-10 secs and disable everything, but you better know how to drive cause now YOU are in control of the car and can drift all you want !! Fun stuff..Burn outs and all. Have fun, be careful.

Hey Chibi, when I do my burnouts I hold the button for 7 seconds to turn off all the nannies. Then I use the paddles to put it in 1st gear so that I can break the tires loose easier then when the rpms get past 5k I shift to 2nd gear then rev it up to get the wheel speed up, then roll forward when I feel the tires start to grab more.
I kept it in Drive once and it blew through 1st AND 2nd and went to 3rd and bogged and messed up my burnout and made me look like a nerd.

So which is needed to disable traction control? I always thought putting it in comp mod disabled everything. Do you have to hold the switch down for 10 sec to turn off trac so you can do a burn out?

Yes, comp mode still has some nannies on. 7-10 seconds shuts all them off.

Feel dumb for not realizing they have that safety feature built in, but what can you do!
