NITTO INVOS 275/40/20 and 315/35/20
Well Friday I finally figured the original P Zeros had had enough after 19600 miles, 175 auto x laps, 13 times down the 1/4 mile and numerous canyon runs. They were down to the wear bars and sliding to much on the courses even though they were streched some on the wider wheels for best grip.
Ivnos ride a bit better and a little easier over the bumps even at 36/34 psi. Handling is great around town and on freeway. On the auto x at SoCal Challange on Saturday I was still getting used to them and pressure was at 34/34 to 35/35,any lower then 33 and they roll to easily on 9 and 10" rims as they are a bit wide but in spec,They werent slidding on the course but screaching pretty good on turns and sweepers, need to go faster..lol 35 was good but like 36/34 so far on the street. Will find out next month and go from there. |

G.M.ZL1 FRONT SWAY BAR ENDLINKS
Made a change to the G.M. ZL1 front sway bar endlinks. After a year, actually about 7 months, with the Pfadt heim jointed units, they loosened up and made a clunking noise. The ends at the sway bar now are really loose and easily move and "flop" around. The ZL1 links have a 1/2" diameter rod vs a 3/8" rod of 2010-11 SS's and 12 mm threaded rod ends instead of the 10mm of the old SS links so they can handle bigger sway bars. The Pfadt bars were designed with this link in mind and the link easily reaches all adjusment holes in the bar. Only mod I had to do was drill out the hole where the link attaches at the top of the strut, as I have a early 2012, the rod ends are 10mm, not 12mm.
So far works fine and the clunking sounds over patched asphalt are reduced some, the rest of the noises Probably just from all the stiffer parts on the car adding up. Sorry, no pics but you all know what the stock links look like Last edited by VR Baron; 10-19-2013 at 12:08 PM. |

PEDDERS SUPERCAR COILOVERS AND ZL1 SWAY BARS
O.K. After alot of back and forth research, and a GREAT deal from Mike at Haddad Motorsports, I bit the bullet and bought Pedders Supercar coilovers,ZL1 Spec 27/32mm sways, Whiteline Craddle incerts and upper rear control arm bushings and a Auto X Alignment.
One thing and you may ask why did I replace my perfectly good Pfadt ZL1 Spec sway bars? Well we found out late that the rear bar would not clear the Bound cannisters of the coilovers. We thought the cannisters could be rotated but it just wouldnt work, so Mike sold the Pedders to me at cost. But all is good as fellow member and friend Inferno LSX was there and needed at set of those Pfadt bars and bought them so all is good! Now for the driving impressions:The car is GREAT!!!! She is solid, taught and handles better then before. The clunking over bumps and bad pavement from the drop springs/shocks is gone, car is neutral just getting into oversteer when real pushing the corners hard, on the street feels alot lighter and perfectly safe.Still playing with settings but so far Pedders basic street settings working well, will keep fine tuning. Overall And now for some pics |

PICS OF NEW LOWERED HEIGHT
A few pics of new height. The front we raised a bit,the back came down to even the overall ride height. The rear was up a 1/4" with the Hotchkis springs. overall drop with the Hotchkis was 1" front and 3/4" rear.
Over time the coilovers are supposed to settle 1/4" or so. So far in 350 miles nothing has changed yet. New height all around now is 25.875" in front, from lower wheel lip as meassured like Pedders does, and 25.8125" in the rear. Thats right where Pedders likes the max drop from stock. If they settle as said I will raise them up to these numbers. As to rebound, bound numbers for the street I have them at 12/12 all around. Am trying front 12/12 and rear 10/10 now and seems better in the back as to ride. Will see as I get used to them and where the settings end up. Am loving the ride, handling and smooth control the coilovers have over stock and the drop springs. They are solid, yet controlled and comfortable all at the same time |
