Amsoil OE or SS?
I plan on changing the oil per manufacturer guidelines. However, which would be better, the OE or the SS? Does the SS have a better wear additive package? Or just designed to take longer to break down?

Signature series link:
http://ww2.amsoil.com/shop/by-produc...tic-motor-oil/ OE link: http://ww2.amsoil.com/shop/by-produc...tic-motor-oil/ Personally, I will buy the signature series. I say this because it is refined a bit more, has better if not more detergents, and because I want the best oil for my ZL1. As far as the oil breaking down, they say OE is good for oil changes up to 12,000 miles with an oil life monitoring system, while SS is good for 15,000 miles (severe service), 25,000 miles (normal service) or one year. As far as the rear diff, I will use the AMSOIL severe gear 75w-90. http://ww2.amsoil.com/shop/by-produc...e-gear-75w-90/ AMSOIL is a great company. Their products may be more expensive than others, but if you only have to change the fluids half as much or less, you will save money. And for me, I will have confidence in the longevity of my ZL1. |

Use the Signature series it meets the GM Dexos1 standard. Change interval is 15,000 miles on supercharged engines which are considered severe service. The Severe Gear 75w-90 is great for the diff but you will to need to add the GM friction modifier.
I have been using Amsoil products in all of my vehicles for over 25 years. One has over 339,000 miles on it now. I have taken advantage of the "extended change" interval on all of these vehicles. |
