How to get rid of rasp

Hi guys I have a 2014 camaro lt with the npp exhaust. I put ARH catless downpipes in but it’s very raspy between 2000 and 3000 rpms. I was wondering if I should take the stock resonator out and put a x pipe or resonated x pipe in? Give me your thoughts and ideas of what I should do. Thank you.

A resonated x-pipe would help reduce rasp/high-pitch frequencies but would also quiet the exhaust a bit; resonators also help reduce rasp by cancelling out high-frequency sounds waves so I'd leave those on.

Do you run the exhaust with the flaps always open (by pulling the fuse)? If so I wonder if reinstalling the fuse might help, if the flaps stay closed around that RPM (not sure, just guessing). But this would of course be less fun than having the valves always open

Yea I did the fuse pull. But I put it back in to see if it would help but it was way worse. So immediately pulled the fuse again. I’m really trying to decide to just do resonated or non resonated.

I have the same setup you do. I've also considered going to the muffler shop and having them weld in some resonators. But I don't know if that would give me the results I'm looking for.

My understanding is that being catless adds to the raspiness. I’m catless as well but I enjoy it

Where do the j pipes go. I’m also wondering in the npp exhaust resonator If there is a loose weld or something broken that is causing it.

I didn’t realize J pipes would combat raspiness. I thought J pipes were to combat drone. Anyone with real experience? My LFX is raspy and I’d like to “tone” it down.

I read a lot of the article you linked but the entire discussion was regarding drone, not rasp.
Did the J pipes you added eliminate the raspy sound or the drone or both? Hopefully both because J pipes would be a relatively inexpensive fix if it really helped with the raspy sound.

I went from stock to MRT 1 and J pipes, I am uncertain of the rasp you are referring to. BUT, might still be worth a try. Others discuss the x pipe to work on rasp. Last option is back to mufflers. lol
Good Luck

Magnaflow resonated X pipe in place of the H pipe will take care of the RASP. That is what many of us used after installing headers. I know you don't have headers, and cannot add them. but if you are looking to control RASP, the X pipe is your best solution.
