Help with Trade-in-value appraisal.

Since I know some of you know the biz.

Anyone know what the least I should accept for this? Its Clean and no mechanical problems.

2006 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Sport Utility 2D
Mileage: 42,000
Engine: 6-Cyl. 4.0 Liter
Transmission: 6 Speed Manual
Drivetrain: 4WD
Selected EquipmentChange Equipment
Standard
Rear Seat Tilt Wheel Dual Front Air Bags
Air Conditioning AM/FM Stereo Privacy Glass
Power Steering Single Compact Disc Alloy Wheels

Optional
Hard Top
Premium Sound
Ovrsize Off-Rd Tires
Cruise Control ABS (4-Wheel)

This is what KBB has listed, but i know dealers go off a Black Book Value.

Excellent $16,500 - only 5% of cars fall into this category
Good $15,700 - This is where my vehicle is.
Fair $14,250 - This is probably what the dealer will try to offer me.

Even though I love this car I have to be prepared to not get screwed on my trade.

Anyone have any insight or recommendations?

Thanks

My dealer offered me 12500 for my civic si its an 07 with at the time 33k, this was in Feb when i first ordered and they said they couldn't guarentee that price till when my camaro came in obviously. So I was just gonna be lazy and trade, i had the money to pay the difference regardless but I decided not to be lazy and listed my cvic and found a local guy willign to wait on the civic till camaro arrives and he offered me 14500, I wanted 15k or so but since I met him a few weeks ago and he is waiting till middle of august for my camaro to come I happily accepted his offer. I figured even if they still offered 12500 I made 2k but they probably would of low balled me with 11k or something is my guess.

I suggest go in their with the info you have and be stern but friendly, tell them you can accept less than a certain amount for your jeep. If its not too late you might want to list it but I see you have a vin so probabbly too late for that.

KBB TRADE IN VALUE WILL BE VERY CLOSE TO WHAT THE DEALER WILL GIVE YOU FOR YOUR VEHICLE.

When I went to trade my dealer went very low! Almost $4K under KBB! I ended up taking my car to CarMax and got another $2.5K out of my trade on a straight sale to them.

I did this as a last resort as I had listed mine for sale and had a buyer but he backed out last minute (the actual day I was suppose to pick up my Camaro). So I lost on the "turn and burn" with the dealer and then when they tried to low ball me...I went to CarMax and got the most I could given the situation.

I'd say check with CarMax if you are needing to sell now but if you have time, list it for sale privately and you'll always get more that way. Dealer may very well give you a decent deal but the Camaro is hot and they will look to make $$$ money anywhere they can...whether a mark up or offering less for your trade!

100% fully agreed. I have sold 4 out of my last 5 cars to CarMax. ALWAYS got above blue book.

Your results may vary. See Store for details.

Not sure if that link will work but I just checked mine and trade in value with current mileage is 12600 and some change. So my dealer gave a fair price at the time, but like I said I couldn't trade the car that same day either.

IMHO expect 10k for trade in for your Camaro. I was looking at trading in my 2006 Silverado 1500CCSB, VMax, 6.0L, loaded with 36k on her in excellent consition I was offered 12k. As others have suggested go to CarMax and see what they will give you.

Good Luck
Sean

Looked at CarMax , nearest one is 2 hours away.

I was able to obtain a Blackbook price of 13,750 - 17,085.

I know they will come in low, but I need to know whats fair.

Those off-road tires might bring the price down...if you still have the 225's put those back on it,it has the hard top so that's a plus.......or sell it privately.......Good luck...also own a Wrangler 06 w/10,500 miles

Also don't forget about taxes. You only pay tax on new car price - trade in value. Atleast in Texas.

agreed, i am saving 1000 on the taxes for the trade in @ 14-15k.

I clicked oversized tires, cause i have the 32 in Good year tires it came with , guess i should uncheck that.

Always try to return it as close to stock as possible...off-road tires "usually" means you took on trails, rock crawling, water fording..etc....

Give it a good cleaning inside and out,wax it,vacuum it...make it pretty...

Ur gonna get screwed. Sell it outright or grab ur ankles. In this Economy most dealers won't even come cls to Kbb. That's just my experience but I've had a lot in the last couple years.

Wish I had that Carmax dealer here......I'm trying to sell a 08 Saturn Vue and they only offered me 2k BELOW KBB Fair price. It is in excellent condition too.
