Speeding ticket in Plano

So, last night, speeding ticket in Plano on W Park Blvd and Coit, 56/40. (Damn those wide roads have a slow MPH max). I own up to it, was leading the pack.

Question: has anyone used a traffic lawyer successfully to dismiss all charges? My dentist (who I was on my way to go see) said that he's paid $75 for a lawyer to reduce the Deferred Disposition (probation) period, but as it's only 90 days, not sure why I would pay $75 on top of the ~$182 which is what it's going to cost me to do Probation myself.

Anyone have any experience in this? Is it a pipe dream to think $75 will dismiss all charges? My record is clean and I've only ever done Driving courses for the occasional no turn on red type violation (can't do the course again within a year unfortunately).

Thanks

If you've exhausted your defensive driving option, just defer the ticket. Just pay the defered fee, and stay out of trouble for 90 days. It's off your record, and less than a ticket. There is no point in reducing the probation period if you don't speed regularly and you drive safely. Also, when you defer, it's only within that city. If you get a ticket in Carrollton, it will not change the Plano ticket (as in, you won't have to pay both).

i think going with these lawyers for speeding violations is a waste of money.

you end up paying the lawyer fee and then you get a letter in the mail saying you still have to pay the fine + probation + defensive driving.

its the second time ive wasted money on a traffic lawyer.
