Here is the new killer tranny cooler mounted underneath the SST where the factory gas tank used to be. It has dual SPAL puller fans and BSS line with heat shielding for both feed and return. There is an IMSA style 'scoop' (removed for this photo) that rams air through the cooler while underway.

This cooler can keep it cool in Death Valley...

Did they ever determine if that was part of the tranny issue? If so, looks like THAT was solved

Wow. That is amazing engineering. I've been to Death Valley in the Summer. If that can keep your tranny cool in that heat, that is astounding!

Yes. It was. The modified Ron Davis radiator (tranny cooler portion) just did not flow near enough volume for the way this tranny was built.

May seem like overkill, but now there are zero worries of tranny overheating issues with the transbrake. Those generate heat so fast it can be scary. Plus we can run this independently in the pits like the other SST systems.
